We had the good fortune of connecting with Frances Canola and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frances, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
For as we always love to go the extra mile. With our salon with our clients and with our craft behind the chair.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Bauhaus Salon is currently own by both myself Frances, and Russell. We are two completely different stylists from different generations with completely different styles and specialities. Russell is a master haircutter who’s style is very classic as i am a Haircolor Specialist who’s style is more on the modern side. Our partnership was built with the idea that if we combine our specialities it would be great combination we could both learn from and create a great environment. Our biggest challenge was the contrast between the two of us which just took time and an open mind to overcome. We are most proud of seeing how far our salon has come and how much our stylists have grown under our mentorship.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If it wasn’t for covid i would say Disneyland is a must and we are so lucky to be so close it but Being from Orange County, the beach areas are the best places to go. A must is an ocean view hike in Laguna beach. A boat ride through the Newport harbor, and getting seafood while overlooking the ocean at The Cliffs in Laguna, Mexican food at Javiers in Newport, and great cocktails at the Treehouse in Huntington Beach.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to all my mentors along the way, one being my business partner Russell Mayes. . My good friend Lo Wheeler who always pushes me to grow & The salon owners support group Passion Squared who has been my biggest support in a lot of important business decisions
