We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Krueger & Jessica Heath and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frank Krueger & Jessica Heath, what do you attribute your success to?
The Annex Acting Studio has always tried to put the student first. As artists ourselves, we understand what it takes to be successful in this industry. It takes dedication, faith, and of course, money. That’s why we offer a MasterClass that uses the “pay what you can” model. We want our students to be able to study without worrying about what’s in their bank accounts. We also try our best to offer outside industry insight at least once a month. We bring industry professionals in to encourage our students. We’ve had producers, casting directors, managers, and so many others who have inspired us to keep reaching for this dream. We consider our students family here at The Annex. It’s what has allowed us to thrive and be successful.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Starting an acting studio in Los Angeles can be a challenge. This city is full of some of the best acting schools in the world. This is the dream city for anyone wanting to be in film and television. Our biggest obstacle was showing students what set us apart from all of the other institutions. Along with our affordable pricing and “pay what you can” class, we stress the importance of a community here at The Annex. We celebrate each other’s successes and have created a support system here. We have each other’s backs… which is huge in this industry. We’re often put on opposing sides to get a role and we want to eliminate that mindset. We’re all in this together. Let’s build each other up!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
With COVID-19 impacting travel, there’s only so much you can do these days. But even before the pandemic, we often took our visitors on a driving tour of Los Angeles and surrounding areas. LA is so spread out that it’s hard to pack in everything you want into such a small amount of time. The best overview is to drive to Hollywood to catch the Blvd, Griffith park & Observatory, swoop to DTLA to eat in ChinaTown, swing West to the beach, drive up the PCH, then pop over to Beverly Hills to drive down Rodeo. We feel like this gives the best overview of this magical place. When the world reopens, we always recommend the studio tours and any rooftop bar to marvel at the city lights. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
To all of our amazing and talented students. We wouldn’t be here without each and every one of you!
