We had the good fortune of connecting with Frank Zavala and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Frank, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, I’ve always wanted to start my own business. To be able to own my own brand, being able to see it grow, and to be part of the process with my family has turned that thought into a reality. As my passion for photography grew bigger, so did my desire to turn that passion into a business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Photography, to me, is an art form. As a poet, I love expressing myself creatively in written and spoken form. And so it is as a photographer. Expressing myself and telling a story through the eyes of my camera lens. I believe that’s what sets me apart from many if not all. It all started when I purchased my very first camera to just take pictures of my son when he was born. As I continued to snap more photos of him, and then of nature, I began to fall in love and with an immense growing passion for it. The rest is history. That’s when I decided, that I wanted to do this professionally. I’ve learned so much along the way. The main lesson I’ve learned so far is to always keep your emotions neutral. Never be too high or too low, because there will be lots and lots of no’s than yes’s in this industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would go to Laguna Beach in Orange County. It’s very scenic and beautiful. We’d eat at Las Brisas Mexican Cuisine, then visit Victoria Beach and the 1000 steps art scene, take lots of photos, maybe even turn it into a mini photoshoot session. Then we would walk through downtown, check out some lounges, and have some good drinks, then take a scenic drive down PCH (Pacific Coast Highway) all the way to L.A.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I give all the thanks and glory to my Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ, because without Him, I’m nothing. Secondly, my wife, Celia. She’s been my best friend, motivator, and the main one that has believed in me and supported me throughout this journey. Our two amazing boys at home, and my mother, who has always been there and has had my back since day one.
