Meet Frankie Morales | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Frankie Morales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Frankie, what do you attribute your success to?
One of the key ingredients to success in my particular industry is customer service. And for me, that means getting the job done right, the first time, on time, and making sure the client looks like a superstar during the holidays. We don’t need the credit; the client gets the credit. And for that primary reason, we continue to get rehired year after year.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Polar Bear Lighting’s holiday designs are not cookie cutter. Yes, we have some basic templates to choose from in terms of color combinations and signature accent pieces. But, every client design takes on a unique flair in which I personally add to it. For example, a Christmas tree that I know will be displayed near a beach in Santa Monica will likely carry some starfish (or surf boards) ornaments or aqua color palette. Or if I know a client loves birds, I’ll design a Christmas tree full of colorful artificial birds and painted little bird houses installed into the tree.
Also, you can count on our continual creativity. Most commercial holiday decor companies that I have seen in California do not embrace change year after year. I work on the contrary. I think we should spice things up annually so those who visit the same destinations also feel a refreshed sense of holiday charm.
I’m constantly attending trade shows and following up-and-coming design trends in home fashions to create new design palettes and even create all new products to introduce to our industry. And the greatest part about our creativity: it never runs out.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Being a native Angeleno, during the holidays, my favorite spots are the big outdoor shopping centers. The Irvine Spectrum is so grand for big name-brand shopping; the Sherman Oaks Galleria is great for good food and grabbing a movie; and the Little Tokyo Galleria brings to you unique Asian-products that I bet you didn’t know you needed until you discovered them here. OK, the Little Tokyo Galleria might be indoors but it’s pretty big and the inside feels like the outside with its big atrium and so much happening all around at all times.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
A big shoutout to my team! My business success is definitely not done singlehandedly – it takes a monumental village to accomplish everything we get done in such a short amount of time. THANK YOU to my Polar Bears. Gracias mis Ositos!
