Meet freangeltheartist

We had the good fortune of connecting with freangeltheartist and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi freangeltheartist, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
since i am known to overextend my point, my practice today is doing my best to keep my answers as short as possible. to answer your question, i love expression in every form and shape. i’ve always felt a very strong pull towards the arts. when i was three years old i wanted to play cuatro. if you’re wondering what that is, it’s like a small to mid-sized classical guitar played in Venezuela (that’s where i am from). i also wanted to sing and dance like Michael Jackson and Axl Rose. Anyways, i promised i would be concise.
Making music, painting, writing, dancing and peforming are tools that nowadays help me stay grounded. They keep me connected to my essence and awarw of my conversation with the cosmic self. art rescues me from fight or flight mode. when the physical reality gets too loud and invasive, the creative process is a sacred space where i’m given the opportunity to mute all the sounds of the world beyond my eyes to organize my feelings, thoughts and perspectives.
In other words, art began as an inevitable pull that helped me find myself in order to enjoy who i am and share that with those who resonate with what i’m expressing at any given moment
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
well, i never really had the opportunity to study anything art-related, which i think helps me be in an experimental and rather playful headspace whenever i am making music for example. that said, sometimes having no formal musical education makes me doubt about what i create. reason why working with Alejandro Martinez (lastdaysofjude co-producer) has been such a wonderful experience. His knowledge and my randomness combined together equal magic.
For me being an artist is not a choice, it is a must. It is something that I can’t not do (and believe me, i have tried). There has been many challenges to overcome but the most important one was getting to know who i was as a human. who am i when there is no one around to validate my existence in this 3D realm? i don’t know how many times i asked myself that question over the years with no answer until very recently. Coming to the realization of who i am is something i am very proud of, that has led me to create music from a place of self-love and lastdaysofjude’s upcoming single, myself again, is the most recent manifestation of that.
Being an artist is the one human title that gives me the space to be everything that i am (experiment, make mistakes, be playful, childish, serious and silly). i did not allow myself to fully and truthfully be me for most of my life, i was at war in my head trying to break free from the box i locked myself into, which ended up in a lifelong depression. Fortunately, i learned that my only job here is to observe myself and life behind the lens of kindness and if there is one thing i’d like the world to know about me and my story is that self-love has been fundamental in overcoming my traumas and giving myself the opportunity to be free in this human experience and i can only hope that what i share through my music helps someone get through the day the same way music has helped me.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
if my best friend was visiting… well, we would probably play mario kart while eating deep dish pizza from my favorite place in Los Angeles, DoughBox Pizza. Then, we’d go to some art exhibit and why not to a dance class either at Millenium (in Studio City), Movement Lifestyle (Burbank) or Athletic Garage (in Pasadena) and we would wrap up the day with a dinner at home. I would totally make my specialty: Carbonara
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
that person is my mom. she saved my life and provided everything i needed to experience life in paradise. she set me up for success. all by herself. she needed no man by her side to be the best example of unconditional love in my life. she made me the human i am today
