Meet Fred Parker | Business Owner, Massage Therapist and Meditation Studio

We had the good fortune of connecting with Fred Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Fred, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
When I think about how far I have come from being an independent contractor to opening a massage and wellness studio, I feel so much appreciation for the clients and the community that have supported me along the way. Fred Parker Wellness exists as it is today because of this community, the inspiration provided, the guidance, and the continued support. I have viewed this undertaking as an opportunity to be of service. And, having this perspective has empowered me to continue to focus on the bigger picture, plan for growth, and continue my evolution. At Fred Parker Wellness, I am proud to say we have some amazing therapists and practitioners who offer very healing and therapeutic experiences in a unique and supportive space. Our success is largely determined by the talented group of people providing a variety of services to this community. Having these things has allowed Fred Parker Wellness to become what it is and continues to allow it to grow.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Fred Parker Wellness is a wellness studio that offers massage therapy, meditation, sound baths, and breathwork. We believe in a holistic approach to well-being. We offer a wide variety of community classes and experiences while offering one of the oldest healing modalities to exist, massage. The meditations, sound baths, and breathwork classes are held in our Himalayan Salt Room, which features a floor-to-ceiling backlit wall constructed with salt bricks, facilitating a dramatic and healing space for our group sessions and couples massages. We believe in offering the highest quality of work for the most reasonable price. The love for our work is evident in the quality of our service. It is a gift to be able to share this work with the community and for the community to share the opportunity for us to be of service.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
At Fred Parker Wellness, we’re frequently described as “a hidden gem in Studio City”. We have numerous consistently great reviews (again, provided by the community), so we know the value of word-of-mouth and a good referral. One of the joys of my life is establishing roots in Los Angeles over these last 15 years, so I was proud to share with my family when they visited for our grand opening. We did the staple things: the historic Hollywood Sign, a Dodger game, and we saw Los Angeles take home a victory on a grand slam. I also shared some of my personal hidden gems in Studio City: Salt and Straw for boutique ice cream made with quality, local ingredients; and Arts Deli, a second-generation family restaurant offering traditional Jewish deli fare, both within walking distance of Fred Parker Wellness. We are honored to be in the heart of Studio City on Ventura Blvd.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I was sixteen, my dad hurt his back while selling air conditioners, which inspired him to study reflexology while he was healing. He then proceeded to open a practice and, around the same time, started hosting meditation sessions. I share my name with my father, who is no longer with us, so the studio is named after him to ensure he remains with us in this way. I think he would be honored to know I followed in his footsteps and continue to celebrate the service and energy he brought into this world. I wouldn’t have been on this path without his journey being what it was.
