We had the good fortune of connecting with G. Celestine and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi G., do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
I feel as if there comes a time where your purpose becomes beyond evident. Once that happens there’s a fight in you that burns hotter than any hell. The thought of giving up will make you cringe and even if there isn’t a way, you’ll make one. Never back down and never give up.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
The way I stumbled into fashion was always funny to me. It was literally a D&G ad in a Bazaar magazine that peeked my interest and from there I just became Alice falling into Wonderland. After many years of trial and error and being deployed overseas I was able to develop my own flava and find what really motivates me as an artist. The road definitely hasn’t been easy, but through perseverance I was able to remain on my journey. I think that the most important lesson that I learned was if you truly want to do something, be passionate. When everyone gives up on you all you’ll have is yourself and the very dream you have… so hold onto it and hold onto it tightly. And if there’s anything I want the world to know about me and my brand it’s that fluidity exists and within me, it knows no bounds.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely have to be a true tourists in L.A. and visit Roscoe’s! Hit up Hollywood and spend the remainder of our time on the beach. We both love being outdoors and exploring so I can see us getting lost, trying random new places to eat and just experiencing the city as much as possible!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The biggest shoutout will always go The Most High and my family! Beyond them, I just want to give a shoutout to my mentor, Dre, for always reeling me back in and keeping me on track! To all my friends, I love you guys to pieces. Thank you for always holding me down.
