We had the good fortune of connecting with gary neal jr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi gary, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Being both a veteran and a government contractor I missed a significant amount of time in my children’s lives. I wanted to make my sacrifice and legacy worth something for them. I actually created the my company name on my twin boys birthday 7/19/2017 Pride and Egoos. It is an acronym standing for People Representing Individuality Diversity and Equality/ Everybody’s Got Our Own Stories.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
From the clothing perspective my vision was to design clothes that communicated your message without you saying a word. I wanted to design unique pieces that stood out, but classy enough to stand the test of time. When it comes to writing, it was another way to communicate beyond the visual in order to connect with people. I wanted to write something that could be talked about and provoke thought years after I am no longer have. Life is about perspective and connection, everything we do is about connection whether it is personal or business relationships, the ultimate goal is to connect.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am a foodie so I would take them to a lot of restaurants lol. Hard 8 BBQ, Italian Bistro, Pappadaux’s, and Bayou Jacks are just a few of the restaurants we’d go to. There’s other cool entertaining places like EVO movie and game spot, the Arlington Improv comedy clubs, and a Dallas Mavericks’ game.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents and my children deserve the credit for my motivation. They’ve pushed me gave me support and great ideas. My stepmother and stepfather are included in that as well. I actually wrote my first book A Healthy Slice of Pi Food for Thought so I could voice my slice of the story in regards to my divorce. Other books that inspired me were The 48 Laws of Power by Robert Greene and books by Thomas Sowell.
