We had the good fortune of connecting with George Acheampong and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi George, how does your business help the community?
My business is dedicated to helping people of color build wealth. It’s no secret that for every one dollar a white person has is wealth, a person of color has just 10 cents. Our platform has created awareness, education and access to the resources necessary to change this narrative once and for all. Through our podcast, financial social network, events and more. Our goal is to close the wealth gap by at least 10% over the next 10 years.
What should our readers know about your business?
My entire business is predicated around helping people of color build wealth. I am most proud of the fact that every year we have a goal of helping 1000 people increase their net worth by $100,000 through education, advising and resources. It took me about 10 years to get to where I am today. It was not easy, and still is not easy. I overcame the challenges by simply never giving up, evaluating my current situation and finding a new solution. One of the biggest lessons I learned along the way is to fail fast – meaning once the facts change, so should you. Try to move on, evolve, pivot as fast as possible. I want people to know that my brand is dedicated to closing the wealth gap by 10% over the next 10 years.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Brunch at Restoration Hardware if you are looking for a vibe. Drinks at Merchant and Trade. Dinner at Kindred, be sure to get the Milk bun for dessert!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to books like “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek. I would also like to thank my team, I could not be where I was without them. And also my wife, she is my biggest supporter.
