We had the good fortune of connecting with George Ayvazyan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi George, can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I got to where I am today in Hollywood by plane, and then car. Immigrating from a second-world country, there were clearly many stops and detours along the way, plus a lot of traffic… but I made it at last and I wouldn’t change the journey for the world.

Professionally, I was sort of thrust into the entertainment industry so when I eventually figured out my aspirations, I just went after it with full force. The force proved to not be full enough so after a while, I became super discouraged when I wouldn’t get the opportunities that every other kid actor in my circle was getting–lesson learned: don’t compare yourself! This is what ultimately skyrocketed my passion all the more: I just had the urge to perform. Low and behold, what else was a 13-year-old in the digital age to do? I started making my own comedy content on YouTube, with the hopes of giving myself the chance to act. It was all just a big ol’ happy accident!

It was definitely hard to keep my dream alive, at times, because of the ridicule from some of the *not-so-enthusiastic* members of my household. I was constantly faced with doubt but at some point, I directed all of my energy into my comedic creations as a way to distract myself from the cloud of negativity. Comedy, to me, became my coping mechanism in an admittedly somewhat selfish way because all I was trying to do was make myself feel better. Comedy is such a delicate form of expression, which is why I always try to stay neutral and only create works that hopefully help others escape, rather than capitalize on the already-existing issues in the world.

Right now, I’m pretty much involved in as many things as my brain can possibly handle. I’m really looking forward to getting back to wrapping the productions on my sketches and short films that were rudely interrupted. Mainly, I’ve been spending my time fine-tuning my stand-up comedy set for when clubs are back open (soon!). And in between, I’m continuing to write, watch movies, and just study so I could truly be the best version of myself. SHAMELESS SELF-PROMO: go check out my short film “Just a Friendly Obsession” on Prime Video!!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I have boring interests. I’m also a home body. BUT, I’m always up for an adventure! For one, I love all things paranormal. I also love old Hollywood history. And I might as well get a kick out of museums. The ideal trifecta. Any person who doesn’t enjoy at least one of these three topics of interest… are we even friends?

First and foremost, let’s get all the classics out the way. We have to obviously hit up the Hollywood sign, the Santa Monica Pier, Rodeo Drive, Pantages Theatre, and Universal Studios Hollywood. Then, we might take a trip down old Hollywoodland lane and visit some hot spots like the Walk of Fame, TCL Chinese Theatre, the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, Chateau Marmont, the Cecil Hotel, and the Musso & Frank Grill. Last but not least, what Los Angeles trip is complete without a studio tour and some museums: Paramount Pictures, the Getty Villa/Center, and LACMA.

. . . I don’t think a week will be enough . . .

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had so many incredible people to thank over the years, from my friends who put up with me during our little YouTube shoots, all the way to my manager and reps over at RTA. An actor’s work is truly based off of the relationships that we are impacted by, so I’ve been very fortunate to learn from not only the friends I’ve made in this business but also every soul that I have crossed paths with, as well.

I’m also really lucky to have had my mom be such a positive driving force in helping me get where I want to go because she had, quite unironically, been my personal chauffeur for a number of years. Outside of the car, she was (and still is) the most supportive person in my life.
