We had the good fortune of connecting with Georgia Brownlee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Georgia, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
The single most important decision I made that has contributed to my business’s success has been to collaborate. You simply cannot do it all yourself in business! Outsourcing skills that I am not so crash hot with have proven to be an investment that returns tenfold when you work with the right people. Growing our team of health and wellness experts has also enabled us to expand our service offering to meet the varied needs of our clients, and ensure the service quality is of the highest standard. Collaborating is fun! We have worked with some really creative people who bring new ideas and inspiration to the business, to help us thrive together.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Sydasana Workplace Wellness provides well-being programs to create happy, healthy, and high functioning work environments throughout Australia. Businesses choose from our list of services, depending on their needs. Anything from weekly fitness classes like Yoga, Pilates, or Boot Camp; to one off workshops on Mindfulness, Nutrition, and even fun events like Clay Pottery Making to help create community at work. We also support a lot of charity events like RUOK Day, Pink Ribbon, and MOvember. Anything that promotes physical and mental health! We believe that a workplace should not be an environment that depletes us; rather a place that supports us to reach our fullest potential personally and professionally.
The business has grown very organically since 2016. It’s been consistency and a genuine passion for what we do that has contributed to our success. We’ve pivoted when we’ve needed to, transitioning our business all online at one point, and we’ve innovated to keep up with the changing work environment, We have enough firsthand and industry experience now to know wholeheartedly that our recipe works, which is what keeps us inspired and motivated to share it with others!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Forever grateful to the many mentors and teachers who have supported me in life and business. I studied Business Management with some great lecturers at The University of Canterbury, and devoted many years studying Yoga and Meditation with some treasured teachers like Mark Breadner, Louisa Sear, and Maryanne Edwards.
I always wanted to run my own business and was given the opportunity to get some hands on experience managing my local Yoga School with a dear friend, Mari Pizzinga. She was very much a mentor for me and inspired an attitude of giving back in business.
It is my family though, who have been my biggest supporters. Their unwavering belief in me, some invaluable business advice, and a couple of networking opportunities to get me started were all stepping stones to help me grow the business to where it is today.
