Meet Gerardo Munoz | Photographer and Videographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gerardo Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gerardo, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
Photography is something that I really enjoy doing and I consider it a passion of mine. I have a lot of fun expressing myself through this art and capturing these once-in-a-lifetime moments for others. These factors have led me to succeed in this industry so far because, despite the downs and struggles, I continue to persevere in this field because of my huge passion for photography.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I think what sets me apart from other creatives is that I’m constantly trying to master different types of photography and I’m constantly trying to get out of my comfort zone and try new things. This has led me to where I’m at today and has contributed a lot to the success I am having. It hasn’t been easy at all and I think that is the beauty of stepping out of your comfort zone. Going through that struggle at first tests your creativity and once you figure it out, you reach a new level in your profession that you simply can’t put a price on it. One of the things that has helped me overcome a lot of these struggles is my constant drive to be better than I was yesterday. I’m constantly trying to be the best that I can be and that pushes me to overcome whatever challenge is in my way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beauty of living in LA (more specifically the San Fernando Valley) is that there are so many fun activities to do. I’d start off by driving through some canyons (my favorite is to go through Stunt Road) to the beach but before that, do a quick hike to a nice view where you can see the ocean. After, we’d take the canyons down to PCH and do a PCH drive to a couple of “hidden” beaches in Malibu. I’m a sucker for beach sunsets and there are some really nice beaches in Malibu. It’s not a successful beach day unless you have some seafood so we’d stop by and get some seafood and drive to Griffith Observatory to get a beautiful view of LA at night. Can you tell that I love some nice views?

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many shoutouts that I’d like to give and I’d like to start by giving thanks to God. He has helped me persevere in this industry and has helped me by giving me the creativity to excel in this art. I’d also like to give a big shoutout to my daughter, my partner, and my family for being very supportive and pushing me to keep pursuing this passion of mine. Last but not least, I’d like to shout out all of my creative friends who are constantly helping me get better whether it’s through professional criticism and tips that have helped me catapult myself to a new level in this art.
