We had the good fortune of connecting with Gia Heron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gia, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think that taking risks are crucial in order for a person to truly grow and evolve. Risk has played a tremendous role in my life from moving to a brand new state alone at eighteen for cosmetology school, to spending my last dollar on studio sessions. I believe you have to be willing to put everything on the line and maybe even take a loss in order to achieve your end goal. Although taking risks can seem scary, they will lead to greatness and help you unlock your true potential.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am most excited about the musical journey I’m currently on. I love sharing my stories through music in hopes of it impacting someone in a good way. To get to the place I am today professionally, it took patience and persistence. Understanding that nothing that is worth something in life comes easy, no part of my journey has been without challenges, but having faith in God and myself has taken me farther than I ever could’ve imagined. An important lesson I’ve learned along the way is “Mind over Matter.” It is one of the most powerful skills I’ve been trying to master because for so long I used to let certain situations hold me back from my goals. Truth is, You control your reality and future, all you need to do is believe that you can conquer anything you put your mind to regardless of obstacles that come your way.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Spots in the city that make me feel good are hiking trails specifically in Culver City, or Runyon Canyon for a workout with my brothers. Immediately followed by Union on Yale in Claremont for a good Sunday meal. I recently found them while searching for new restaurants and it’s easily become top five on my brunch list. After, I have to take them to The Grove then hit Melrose Ave for some exclusive finds and vibes. Also, a beach trip before she leaves is a must for nice views & tranquility. Lastly, we’re making a stop at MoVita because nothing beats the chia pudding or açaí bowl since it’s the most refreshing option when you’re in LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my mom, Ruth Heron for never giving up on me and always encouraging me to go after everything I want. I owe you the world! Up next are my little brothers, Jermaine & Gabriel Heron who helped change my entire life. A lot of what I do is for them, and to ensure that they’re always taken care of. There is no love like the love of a brother, so I thank you two for showing me what true compassion and support is. I am forever indebted to you both for believing in me and trusting the path I’m on before I ever did. To my Aunt Meisha and Uncle Clayton, thank you guys for embracing me when it felt like I had nowhere to go. You both showed me a new way of living and it has helped me grow immensely as a student, entrepreneur, and person in general. Before I end, I also want to show love to Kennia, Wisdom Davina & Ben Carter for helping me chase a dream that’s so meaningful and personal while only knowing me for a short time. People like them are very hard to come by, so I am beyond thankful to you all for becoming apart of this journey with me.
