We had the good fortune of connecting with Gita Rash Actor, Artist and Author and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gita Rash, what makes you happy? Why?
I love to create, using imagination and inspiration derived from nature, people around me, travels, and life. Creating a piece of art, literature, poems or prose brings incredible joy and happiness to color my life and keep me inspired. The frustrations and challenges that life brings is inevitable, we have to face and overcome them. By staying positive and productive and engaging in purposeful activities, whatever they may be, we are given the opportunity to direct our attention towards a more rewarding life.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am both a visual and performing artist. From the very beginning I have had a definite concept of what I wanted to create, which was anything that resonated with me intrinsically. I followed the beat of my own heart to set the form and direction of my paintings. As an ardent lover of color, my work is heavily influenced by bright, eye catching colors and themes. Although there were some challenges at first, my persistence and focus kept me going, apart from which, I believed in myself and my abilities. Today I can proudly say, that having the determination to never give up has rewarded me in many ways. Getting published as an author is a daunting task. As is getting a role in a film or Theater/Television series. Keeping focused, staying optimistic and humble has helped me achieve these goals. Some of the lessons I have learnt during my journey is to appreciate both the good and the bad that you are dealt. Every experience is a lesson you have to learn. Hard work and dedication has paid off, there are no short cuts in life.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
New hope is definitely on the top of the list. Apart from all the vibrant galleries and eclectic shops, we would check out the Bucks county playhouse, take a ride on the Delaware canal, browse the antiques in Lambertville, detox in the Solebury Orchards, and finish up our day at The New Hope winery. The rest of the week would include a picturesque train ride to Savannah Georgia. In a couple days, we can take in the beauty of the antebellum architecture, the live oaks, Forsyth Park, sample southern cuisine in The Olde Pink House and catch a sip and bike tour back to the hotel. Explore the historic River front and admire the Savannah River as gigantic cargo ships sail by. Sample some delicious Savannah pralines at the oldest candy shop. You can never get enough of the free samples all along the street. Visit the exciting Bonaventure Cemetery where grave stones and memorials are some of the most elaborate you will ever see. The last couple days would include a must visit trip to Philadelphia to witness the place where liberty was proclaimed, photo op with the Liberty Bell and tour the historic square and home of Edgar Allen Poe. Pose with the “Rocky” statue and run up the steps of the Art Museum. Bite into an authentic Philly chesesteak at Jim’s and take a leisurely stroll along South Street chockfull of colorful art and graffiti and experience the Bohemian vibe so typical of South street.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Family and friends have been a big part of my success. Apart from love and support from my immediate family, I have received tremendous encouragement from the local students that have attended my fitness classes over the years, my faithful students who have followed me over the span of many years. A big thank you to the Pocono Mountain Arts Council for organizing so many amazing art shows and events that have helped me blossom into the artist I am today. All those wonderful people who generously donated their time and effort to support and encourage fellow artists. I would also like to appreciate a group called “The New Residents” who welcomed me in as a newcomer to the town and showed me the ropes. Their love and support is a huge factor in my life.
