We had the good fortune of connecting with Glenn Bolton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Glenn, what’s your definition for success?
Money and accolades are most commonly associated with success, but I see them more as byproducts than the actual definition. Success to me is living a life you don’t feel the need to escape from. I don’t think it’s a number or a position, but rather putting yourself in a place where your life is built around your mission and your purpose. Once you’re there, the hard work and sacrifice doesn’t feel like a burden you have to cope with. Instead, it just becomes a necessary step to get to where you’re trying to go. That’s when you’re truly successful.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The thing that sets my art apart from others is how much I’m willing to fail in order to grow. I’m most excited about being a featured musical act on “Samson’s World” (Prime Video, Apple TV) and being a part of the animated horror/comedy “The Weird Kidz” (Feature Film of the Year at Nevermore Film Festival 2023). Getting to where I am took a lot of patience and perseverance. I had to learn how to show up regardless of how I felt or what was going on in my personal life. I just want the world to know that I’m not where I am because I have some super human abilities. I just went for it and never gave up. You can too.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop is Tarantino’s pizza in Pasadena then we’re hitting the Ice House for some comedy and a drink. After that, we’ll hit up a speakeasy in Old Town. One day HAS to start with Grand Central Market then we’ll head to one of the many amazing museums here. Axe throwing at Mo’s House of Axe to follow. Hiking the Beaudry Circle and catching a rock show on the Sunset strip are mostly definitely on the list as well. Last but not least I’m taking them to the Riff Raff Mic at Third Wheel. Quite possibly one of the most fun and chaotic shows in comedy.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Someone who has been instrumental in not only my growth, but many others is Samson Crouppen (Host & Creator of Samson’s World on Prime Video/Apple TV). He’s always working to give up and coming comics a platform and a space to work on our acts. Just an all around good dude.
