We had the good fortune of connecting with Greg Edwards and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Greg, what do you want people to remember about you?
It’s weird answering a question about legacy, I am a older comic now, i remember when I was a young comic in this game always searching for advice from my elder brethren for guidance and to be aware of pitfalls. First of all I want to be remembered as funny, really funny, I want people to remember distinct jokes ,i want people to remember that I was hard working, creative and super free. Lastly i want people to remember me being nice and kind and genuine. I think being nice is a virtue and I like being nice to people strangers and my friends.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a standup comedian, there is a million of us. I love all the parts of being a comic, the joke, working the joke out, the mics, the waiting , the shows, the emails, the road , the clubs , the small shows , the audiences, all the other comics , the hang. I’m totally in love with stand up. I’ve almost been doing it half my life, its been consistent since i stared. Nothing sets me apart just being honest, im weird, i like saying wild shit that i believe and also dont believe, Im on stage having a great time. I got to where i am now by just continuing to do it, working on self made projects, hustling and being nice. NO it’s not easy, Challenges come and go but you have to change your perspective, perspective is really everything. The lessons i’ve learned is to just cut out the interference , remove the things from your life that interfere with the work, and keep pushing yourself to create, create when your happy, create when you’re mad , sad, hungry , horny , whatever just keep making stuff.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my friends came into town, i’d take them to Gracie’s pizza in East Hollywood , then after we’ have to go to the family arcade on vermont and play some old school video games. I’d take friends to some hilarious independent comedy shows around LA , take them to Venice beach. I’d also take them to some of my favorite taco trucks and taquerias around the city. I’d take them to Ikea because you dont really know a city until you’ve gone to the nearest ikea in the city. Id take them to Inglewood and Watts gets some Dandy’s chicken and hangout in South LA. I dont smoke anymore but i’d take my friends to a weed shop, if you from the south Weed dispensaries are the craziest shit ever.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my pop the original GREG EDWARDS, my dad is probably the nicest, most giving person i know. My dad was and is a great Dad still teaching me every time we talk. He deserves so much and wants nothing. Big big shout out to my dad.
