Meet Guiomar Ortiz | Pianist and Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Guiomar Ortiz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Guiomar, why did you pursue a creative career?
Since I was little I love all the things related to art. In the primary school I took theatre lessons, painting lessons and music lessons. I cant remember Why but music was the art that caught my attention and i decided to focus on. Today i dont regret my decision because pursueing and artistic carrer has bring me the capacity and the opportunity to live and feel some things that are very special. I decided to dedícate my life to music because i want to make people feel that powerful emotions like when you listen las n a concerto your favourite music piece or you Watch your favourite movie and makes you cry because of its beauty

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think that what sets me apart from others is that i try to mix a lot of different art in one project. For example, I write a piece named Construction Time Again around a year ago. This piece was written for the closing ceremony of the exposition called too “Construction Time Again”, which has art pieces of international artist. I had to write each movement for each artist pieces, conforming a complete Suite in the end. Also each of this movements were choreographed by 3 contemporary dancers.

The project that I am more excited about is my first ballet! I am súper proyecto of trying to make this work. It is like a drena for me and I am surrounded by a fantastic group of artist who are making the choreography, the Script and wonderful musicians and designers so I think its going to be something big!

I’ve been learning music for 17 years, and day by day I keep learning. Great results and succes is possible thanks to lots of years of studing, effort, sacrifice and passion. All art disciplines require sacrifice but if you love what you doing it will be worth it.

I am here to create and make people feel all the emotions that music can provoke , to pone the audience minds and to enjoy life through the music

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favourite things un life are art, eat and travel. So, maybe the first days I will make her a tour around the tipical things of the City, some monuments and have some traditional food. I would also take her to my favourite concert halls, go partying after that or go to a street food market. Also one of my favourite plans would be going to my favourite asian less known restaurants which i keep in secret because They have very delicious food! I am super fan of asian food.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family. They suport me and give me encourage to go ahead with any project I have . And my boyfriend Pelayo, who is also a pianist. He always understand me and encourage me and I am super gratefull about me.
