We had the good fortune of connecting with Gwen Dittmar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gwen, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I would say there are multiple factors to the success behind myself and my brand. The first would be a deep connection to why I am serving clients through coaching and soul remembrance. As a teen I was very sick, but the doctors could not find out why, and I had a near death experience. Both of these events taught me the preciousness of life and created a desire to help others. Having a deep connection to your why helps carry you through during the scary, frustrating, and unknown aspects of being an entrepreneur. The second factor would be a willingness to learn, change, and grow. As an entrepreneur there are so many things to know and learn, so having the willingness to make mistakes, learn from them, and apply the learnings moving forward is how we shift and expand. The last factor that I feel is so important is being ready to do whatever it takes and also knowing when to delegate and lead. As an entrepreneur there is a point where you cannot keep hustling, working long days and nights, and you take a leap to hire people who can help you grow. It is one of the most challenging spaces to move through, but once you feel the power of having a team that can handle certain aspects of your business better than you can, it frees up your space, time, energy and inspiration to focus on what you do best within the business and brand.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
For the past 12 years I’ve had the honor of guiding hundreds of clients into discovering their unique design and energy, healing and releasing old beliefs, emotions, physical symptoms, ancestral patterns, and spiritual disconnection, and and embodying a wholeness and trust that is infinite.
Sometimes the work with clients is practical, tangible, and documented in spreadsheets, strategy, and ROI. Sometimes the work is abstract, spiritual, energetic, activating, and awakening. I believe we are spiritual beings having human experiences, and many high achievers are seeking practical, efficient, and more soulful ways of living.
Sometimes our coaching takes the form of expanding in your current profession, creating a new business, enhancing or ending a relationship, creating financial abundance, or discovering the answers to, “Why am I here, What am I supposed to be doing?”.
The work I do with clients is deep yet fun, expansive yet grounded. Whatever you create in your external life is simply a reflection of the work we do on your inner experience.
It was not an easy or straight forward path for me. I spent 17 years working in a job and industry that did not feel fully aligned but I was good at the work, I was successful, I had expertise and flexibility, and I made good money. I was scared to walk away from that success, flexibility, and income. But I spent all of my non-working hours studying, practicing, and engaging in spirituality, and coaching clients on my off hours. I felt so much energy, joy, and inspiration in that work.
What I realized after years of attempting to leave that profession was I needed a big push in order to leave once and for all. I made a huge financial investment and hired a coach. It was the push I needed. I knew the only way that massive investment would be worthwhile was if I left the old career for one that made my heart sing.
The first year of working fully in my coaching and healing work was very challenging. There were financial concerns as a parent of two small children, living in an expensive city. But I kept moving forward, learned to trust more deeply in God and Spirit than I ever had before in my life, and was deeply connected to why I was doing this work. I also knew everything I was experiencing would help others who were also in that position of leaving one career for something they loved.
I want people to know that it is totally possible to leave a job or career and create something that you are energized by, feel inspired by, and love waking up to do each day. I want people to know that it is often our past experiences, limiting beliefs, and actions that create what we want or do not want. I want people to know that we all have the ability to heal, create, and live our greatest life. And sometimes what we deeply desire is often times within us, and our life does not need to change. The shift happens in our inner experience, perspective, and the whole world can change when the lens we see it through changes.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love this question because there is so much to experience in Los Angeles! I would take my friend to Gjelina for breakfast, to Venice Breakwater to watch the surfers and a cold plunge in the ocean. Then we would drive to Groundworks on Main Street in Santa Monica for coffee to sip as we drive up the PCH to hike. I would make a pit stop for lunch at Cholada Beach Thai just past Topanga Canyon. Then we would continue to Ray Miller Trail in Ventura County just beyond of Malibu to soak up majestic ocean views. On the drive home from the hike I would take my friend to Sushi King in Santa Monica. To top off dinner, I would take my friend to Van Leeuwen for vegan ice cream at the Platform in Culver City!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to recognize God and being the vessel for God to work through me. I would also like to recognize my children, Emerson and Grant, who are my greatest source of inspiration and teachers. I would also like to recognize all of my mentors, coaches, healers and teachers who have nurutred and guided me. I would also like to recognize my family and friends who support me and love me.
