Meet H.C. Guida | Writer & Producer, Founder of Synkronicity Projects

We had the good fortune of connecting with H.C. Guida and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi H.C., what do you attribute your success to?
A growing conscious community is key to my entertainment brand’s success. Synkronicity Projects was founded two years ago with the calling and the intent to inject a truthful, more forward-thinking kind of content into the current series and film landscape. What started with an award-winning short film called Aho, about a first-timer’s foray into the world of ayahuasca, has led to the series pilot I wrote and produced called Topanga. The show does a deep dive into the world of plant medicine and spiritual healing. Both projects are comedies, because myself and my creative collaborators believe humor is a great way to make a lot of this far out stuff seem more accessible. We simply seek to shine a spotlight on the ethereal and esoteric around us, and have some fun while doing it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
This year, Topanga premiered at the L.A. Comedy Film Festival. It’s about a pessimistic, out-of-work dude in the middle of a divorce who moves to Topanga, California, makes a promise to the universe to “just be open”…so he takes in a couple of hippie roommates, begins to sell psychedelic mushrooms, allows a real estate agent, who moonlights as a “shaman”, to hold ayahuasca ceremonies in his house, and then his entire life turns upside down…or does it?
It’s inspired by true events and directed by longtime Topanga resident Mark Kohl. We hope it opens up the industry to a new kind of sitcom, and we’re building a dedicated following among the spiritual community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to Topanga. The quirky and eccentric mountain town just north of Los Angeles is one of a kind. Topanga is where people ask their vegetables permission to eat them…Where they elevate kundalini energy up their spine to their third eye…Where they get pricked on the arm with kambo – poison procured from a frog – to “purge” (puke) out negativity… Where inspirational “Gurus” and gorgeous “Goddesses” look to change the world one aspirational quote + selfie at a time. It’s where the mysticism of the New Age scene and the narcissism of Hollywood culture collide. Most folks come here for same reason…to find themselves. But many end up losing themselves just the same.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My good friend Stefan Pommepuy deserves a shout out. He is one of the leading real estate agents at The Agency, but his passion is introducing those who are ready to the spirit of plant medicine. I met him on the way to a ceremony in Mexico. We shared a ride to the location, where a camera crew was also headed to feature us in a documentary about ayahausca. By the time we arrived we were basically brothers. He has shown me more about myself, and helped me confront my deepest fears than probably anyone else I know. That spiritual path is informing my rise as a writer and producer of spiritual content.
