Meet Hanna Kazeka | Motion Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hanna Kazeka and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hanna, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I’ve always been passionate about art and visual storytelling from a young age. I remember spending hours sketching and experimenting with various forms of media, always finding joy in the process of creation. This passion led me to pursue formal education in motion design, where I could combine my love for art with the technical skills required to bring ideas to life.
One of the reasons I chose a career in motion design is because it’s a field that will never make you bored. There’s always something new to learn, and the industry is still relatively fresh, offering a lot of flexibility and diverse opportunities. Whether it’s working on 2D or 3D motion design, compositing, or exploring new techniques and trends, there’s always a way to grow and innovate.
Additionally, the motion design industry is relatively small, which creates a tight-knit community where you can look up to and learn from the best in the field. This sense of community and the constant evolution of the industry are incredibly motivating and inspiring to me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Coming from a traditional fine art background in painting and sculpture, I was drawn to explore the more technical side of the art industry through motion design. Although the mediums differ, my traditional art experience has greatly informed my understanding of color, composition, and form.
As a motion designer, I focus on creating dynamic visual stories. Motion design combines graphic design, animation, and visual effects to bring static visuals to life. I enjoy working with various software and techniques, both in 2D and 3D mediums, and I’m always eager to learn new ways to bring my ideas to life.
As a recent graduate, I recognize that there is still much for me to learn, and I’m committed to showcasing my versatility, which allows me to contribute to a wide range of projects. My education provided me with a strong foundation in design, animation, and compositing, and this versatility, along with my ability to work in different styles and techniques, sets me apart. I’m continually pushing myself to improve my skills and become better at what I do.
My creative journey has been a blend of challenges and achievements. One significant challenge was finding a style I truly enjoy, as my desire to explore everything often became a distraction. Like many in this field, I faced the struggle of standing out in a competitive industry. I overcame this by continuously refining my skills, seeking feedback, and embracing every learning opportunity. One approach that helped me develop a personal style was analyzing work from my favorite designers and studios, and identifying the common elements I admired. My education at Ringling College of Art and Design was very important in developing my foundational skills and provided the mentorship and support necessary for my growth.
The most important lesson I’ve learned is the significance of adaptability. The field of motion design is constantly evolving, and staying relevant requires a commitment to lifelong learning and a willingness to embrace new trends and technologies. I believe in the power of collaboration and the magic that happens when talented individuals come together to create something exceptional. Building a network of supportive mentors, colleagues, and friends is crucial in navigating the ups and downs of a career in this industry.
My journey is one of continuous growth and learning. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and I’m excited about the future and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Since I live in NYC, it’s a great place to host a friend because there are countless things to do and see. For a week-long trip, we’d start with breakfast in Tribeca, followed by a visit to the Statue of Liberty. The next day, we’d visit The Met and the American Museum of Natural History, and enjoy a Broadway show. A Brooklyn adventure would include walking the Brooklyn Bridge, exploring the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, and having dinner at a local restaurant. Uptown, we’d visit the Guggenheim and Central Park, and enjoy jazz in the West Village. We’d also explore SoHo, and Greenwich Village, ending the day with nightlife at a chic rooftop bar. A day in the Bronx and Queens would include visiting the Bronx Zoo and the New York Botanical Garden. The final day would be relaxed with brunch in the East Village, shopping on Fifth Avenue, visiting the High Line, and ending with a view from the Top of the Rock. With this plan, I’m sure we’d have an amazing time while seeing the main highlights of New York!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First and foremost, I want to give a huge shoutout to my family. Their support and encouragement have been a constant source of motivation for me. They’ve always believed in my passion for art and design and have supported my decision to pursue a career in this field.
I also owe a lot to my professors from the motion design department at Ringling College of Art and Design and my classmates. The professors’ guidance, feedback, and encouragement have been extremely helpful in developing my skills and confidence as a designer. My classmates provided a collaborative and inspiring environment that pushed me to grow.
Additionally, I’d like to recognize the impact of the design community as a whole. Being part of such a dynamic and supportive industry has been incredibly inspiring. The opportunity to learn from and connect with some of the best in the field has driven me to continually improve and explore new creative possibilities.
All these individuals and resources have significantly contributed to where I am today, and I’m deeply grateful for their support and influence in my career.
