We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Gross and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I often approach a situation head on, so there’s almost always risk involved. Change is scary, but nothing is scarier to me than coasting and living in a comfort zone. Taking a risk is an integral part of growth, and if I fail then I learn from my mistakes and try again. I’ve taken huge risks in my life and in my career, and even though they didn’t always pan out I can at least look back and say I gave it my all.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My name is Hannah and I am a fitness instructor in Los Angeles. I started my own virtual program called Sweat with Hannah in 2020–it started during the pandemic where I’d teach classes to my friends who were missing their favorite workout studios and it turned into a booming subscription-based online business. What sets SWH (Sweat with Hannah) apart from others is my unique combination of pilates and strength training, and I try to keep it challenging while still making it a fun workout.

I think the biggest challenge I’ve faced thus far is starting up in a highly saturated field and finding a way to make myself stand out without sacrificing my integrity. It is very important that throughout this process I stay true to myself.

In addition to SWH I also work at three different studios in LA: Lift Society, Heimat, and Carrie’s Pilates Plus. I love the impact that I can have on someone’s day whether its through a screen or in one room together. Positive human interaction is so good for the soul.

I am a firm believer that movement has the ability change someone for the better, both in the mind and body.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I’d obviously want to take them to all my favorite work out studios, namely Lift Society, Carrie’s Pilates Plus, and Heimat. Jon and Vinny’s (WeHo location) is an absolute must for any visitor to experience. I’d want to take them to Malibu and and go for a hike and eat at Malibu Farm on the water. We’d also stop at the Melrose place farmer’s market on Sunday and pick up fresh food to make a delicious home-cooked meal together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to dedicate my shoutout to one of my closest friends who really believed in me from the start and mentored me along this fitness career. Her name is Dylan Schenk and she owns a weight lifting gym called Lift Society (located in Hollywood and in Studio City). She is a boss woman through and through and has inspired me to keep pushing for my career no matter how tough and exhausting it gets.
