We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Roeloffs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hannah, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Work life balance is really hard when you own your own business especially when you are just starting. I really struggled (and sometimes still do) with putting boundaries on working hours, but I came to realize that I am more productive during my work hours when I put parameters on myself. I can get easily burnt out if I do not take time off or personal time, so through trial and error I learned the importance of having a work life balance for productivity and just overall personal health and even relationships.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am now a co-owner of my own business, we are a 360 marketing agency that focuses on influencer marketing, event production, public relations, and social media management. I did not get here over night! One of the biggest things I implemented to get me where I am today is skill stacking. A long all of my experiences, I picked up complementary skills that support my core skill. This really helps me be well rounded when walking into any environment. It helps me as a business owner and manager, because I am knowledgable in each skill in the work place and am able to guide my employees in the best direction.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love to take my friends around town when they visit. Over six years ago when I moved to LA I would take everyone to the Hollywood sign and the Santa Monica Pier haha! Now I prefer to take them to the Palisades, my favorite restaurants including Laurel Hardware and the Griddle Cafe. We would grab drinks in Santa Monica at a hotel bar or the Rose in Venice. We would pull off on PCH up to Malibu for a sunset beach picnic!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I truly recognize and acknowledge everyone along my journey who has played a role in my success. I give attribution to my Oma for inspiring me to be a business owner and work in arts and entertainment. I want to recognize the staff at Lincoln Southwest for being so supportive of my dreams and helping me start a fashion club. I want to thank the staff at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising for opening doors in the industry for me. I want to thank all of my former managers for seeing potential in me and helping nurture my skills. It truly takes an army to get to where you want to go. Never be afraid to ask for what you want, and always be curious to learn a long the way.
