We had the good fortune of connecting with Hari Bhaskar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hari, what matters most to you?
Honesty is what I value the most. That’s because trust is something money cannot buy, and once you’ve lost someone’s trust, you can never truly get it back. Honesty is the only way things can be done in a time-efficient manner. One doesn’t have to second-guess themselves if honest opinions and answers are given without beating around the bush.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a BIPOC immigrant actor from India. I moved to NYC in January of 2021 and graduated from the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in June of this year from the Evening Conservatory program. I’ve mostly been doing theatre these last six months, ranging from Shakespeare to Chekhov to new contemporary works. I had a lot of support along the way from my family and friends, especially my parents who support me financially. I am from the state of Kerala in India, and it’s very rare for people from my state to move to the United States to pursue acting. One of my major goals is to bring more talent from my state, known as Malayalis, to the global stage, and have them recognised for their contributions to the different fields of art, because us being a small state in India haven’t gotten the recognition we deserve.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Central Park, Summit One Vanderbilt, Chinatown, Times Square, Battery Park, 5th Avenue
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to give a shout-out to my friends, especially Koshy, Aryenn, Rithwik, Smitha, Theo, Alvin and Prajith for helping me out with my self-tapes, which have helped me grow in my fledgling career. They’ve helped me when no one else was there.
