Meet Harleny Vasquez | Social Work Career Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Harleny Vasquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Harleny, what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind my success is being in control of my own thoughts about my ability to succeed. My brand comes from a place of being authentic and motivating others to achieve their goals regardless of the obstacles and challenges that they face. It’s important to recognize and validate any inner conflict that you may be facing that is holding you back from achieving the success that you desire while giving yourself the opportunity to be able to succeed and fail without holding onto any expectations.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a Latinx born and raised in Manhattan, New York known as “Inwood”. I am very proud for being a first-generation college graduate to receive my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Hunter College and my Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University.
I was raised by a single mother and I grew up in low-income, which is one of the reasons why I wanted to become a social worker. I have worked in the field of social services for over six years empowering families to thrive within this broken system. As a minority and woman of color, I always knew that I was brought onto this world to make an impact. I am a personal cheerleader for everyone who steps into my life with a huge focus on professional development. I am someone who is always committed to the goals that I set for myself, I thrive on change.
Growing up, there were many struggles, especially with my self-esteem, I always sought validation by others. My life has definitely been a long journey towards self-love because I realized that I was the only one that can limit my abilities to succeed. Once I was able to overcome those struggles, I was amazed at what I can accomplish the moment I gave myself the permission to succeed. I continue to share my story to help others realize that it’s normal to have certain battles with ourselves but we must recognize that we hold the power within to achieve anything that we put our mind to. We are able to take control.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Living in new york city, central park has one of the most amazing sceneries to view.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My business coach Dielle Charon because of the step-by-step framework she has provided has given me the opportunity to come out of my shell and bring that level of awareness for myself to be able to validate my inner successes first. https://diellecharon.com/
My partner has also been my biggest cheerleader and motivated me to start my own business.
