We had the good fortune of connecting with Hartwell Sawyer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hartwell, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Women share with us all the time, that since they have begun to wear Royal Codes & given themselves permission to embody their self worth & fullest expression, it’s created an undeniable & liberating sense of freedom. This allows them to show up more fully in so many other areas of their life. The deepest message & mission of Royal Codes is to help activate women in their sexuality, sensuality & empowered feminine essence. By that we mean to help women reclaim their innate worth by helping them feel, safe, comfortable & empowered to be themselves in every way. Our community of women around the world is such an integral part of what makes us cultivate the impact we do, because as one women reclaims her innate freedom, others around her begin to follow with inspiration & begin to reclaim their’s. Our business is at the forefront of a divine feminine movement. We serve as a permission slip for women to live their most radiant life. For that we are deeply inspired & immeasurably grateful.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
At the heart i’m also a musician. I never intended to be a fashion designer. Most of my life I have focused, trained & invested in being a professional singer/songwriter. We all know that artists sell merchandise, but being a designer of a brand with such a deep mission takes this piece to a whole other level for me. All of this comes with many challenges, the biggest one being that this business was literally built by Ryan & myself from the ground up, we had no training in this industry. Its been a very humbling, testing & fulfilling experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots to visit in L.A are Venice beach, boardwalk & the Santa Monica Pier area. For food I love Aroma Cafe & Firefly in Studio City.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shoutout my business partner & best friend Ryan Fontana. He is the reason this company has become global. He saw the potential of this business, created the website & singlehandedly made the unfolding of Royal Codes possible in ways beyond what I could have ever imagined.
