We had the good fortune of connecting with Hassan Sarwar and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hassan, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk taking is a defining characteristic of my personality. Being an adrenaline junkie makes it more pronounced. I’m always looking for a thrill and seeking excitement which has led to some very remarkable outcomes. I’ve co-founded six companies in the past few years, on a whim, because there was something I found interesting and intriguing about the space. Not all of our launches were successful, but quickly releasing products has provided me with a steep learning curve, while allowing me to pivot and make decisions more efficiently. I don’t view risk taking as a plunge into darkness; it’s a way to quickly validate a hunch and move to the next step. However, I believe it is important to manage the size of your risk. Investing all of your money blindly into a new idea might not be very smart, but risking a portion of your time and resources, knowingly forgoing your opportunity cost for that period, is a smart way to mitigate risk. InfiniOne wouldn’t be where it is today if we hadn’t taken risks on new technologies. It started with learning how to build mobile apps to where we are now; architecting IoT solutions and machine learning systems. The world would be a boring place without risk taking – it’s essential for innovation, creativity and moving society forward.

What should our readers know about your business?
InfiniOne is a full service software development house. We help brands and companies solve business challenges with software and artificial intelligence. Our business is spread across multiple verticals including e-commerce, IoT, logistics, retail, finance, and lifestyle brands. I started InfiniOne out of my dorm as a junior and slowly built our expertise over the years. I don’t think anything is ever easy, regardless of scale. Looking back things seem easier having already been through the experience, but at the time you solve each challenge by being creative, asking others for help, and trusting your team. We wouldn’t be where we are today if it wasn’t for the extremely hardworking and talented engineers who’ve been with InfiniOne from the start. Apart from being an exceptional software company, we’re deeply curious. Our engineering team is always exploring and learning new technologies, either for small internal projects or for the direct benefit of our customers. This helps us stay at the forefront of one the fastest changing industries in the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Take advantage of the diverse outdoor geography and the amazing fusion of cuisine around the city. Go biking on the beach, hiking in the Palisades and Malibu, try mountain biking in Angeles National Forest, and most importantly hit the beach. For breakfast check out Mama’s Secret, Blu Jam Cafe or Eggslut. Grab coffee at Verve, Blue Bottle and Intelligencia for a midmorning pickup. The best spots for lunch are Zinque on Melrose, Olio Pizza, Joey DTLA, Jitlada and Seasalt Poke. Wrap your day up with dinner from Bestia, Ysabel, Delilah, Animal, Little Sister, Ink, or Cecconi’s.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My grandfather has had a very special influence on my life. His value of hard work and his tenacity to accomplish difficult goals was second to none. He grew up studying under street lamps because his family couldn’t afford electricity, ultimately becoming the chief editor at one of Pakistan’s most successful Sunday magazines. It’s those values that give me the motivation to weather difficult times and to stay focused when all is going according to plan. Even though he is no longer with us, his example, encouraging words, and lessons from our conversations continue to empower me.
