We had the good fortune of connecting with Haylee Nichols and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Haylee, what role has risk played in your life or career?
For me, taking risks and stepping out of my comfort zone has helped me to set myself apart from others. What I’ve learned over the years is that, at times when I feel uncertain about what the future holds for my brand, that is when the most growth happens. Taking risks and stepping outside of what is expected or safe makes me want to continue to create and be a better artist. Because even if something I try doesn’t translate or work out as I expect, I still see it as a learning opportunity.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
A lot of my work is influenced by nature. The colors, the organized chaos, and organic forms. I enjoy making paintings from photographs I’ve taken in Los Angeles and in Maine where I visit in the summers. I’m very excited to be getting into ceramics, it’s been a goal of mine to make vessels and vases for my floral designs!
It’s important to me that my customers feel special when they buy my art, flowers and ceramics. Everything I make is one of a kind and I want to continue to push my work and evolve through all of these mediums.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say El Matador beach is a really beautiful spot. The drive along the coast is stunning and the view walking down the cliffside to the beach is breathe taking. It’s a nice escape from busy LA.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am so grateful to my friends and family, particularly my mom and fiance for their unwavering support. There are times when I lose sight of what I want to achieve and all of the things I’ve already achieved. They are constantly reminding me to keep going and to enjoy the process not just the end result.
