We had the good fortune of connecting with Heidi Glassman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Heidi, we’d love to hear what makes you happy.
Working with a company that lets you grow with them. I started with Titan Brands Hospitality Group in January of 2018. They originally brought me on as the Catering and Special Events Manager and over the years they have helped me grow into the Public Relations Manager role as well. My boss, Scott Frost, opened our first Hussong’s Mexican Cantina in a Hospital with a cell phone taped to his neck. He had just been in a near fatal motorcycle accident in May of 2009. His perseverance and unbreakable spirit led him to be the leader that we all look up to. Working for him gives me a sense of empowerment that I can do anything if I just put my mind to it . All of our victories and being by his side while growing as a company keeps me and my work family smiling. To start my day every morning I wake up at 4 am, I then take my vitamins and get to the gym by 5 am. Knowing that you have accomplished a goal by 6 am is a huge deal. It makes the rest of the day more organized and controlled. I love being a mom to my 3 children, Shawn, Madison Rose and Ryan. My children are grown and out of the house, and they are becoming incredible adults. I make sure to tell them every time we speak that they can always come home. I raised them as a single mother and made sure they had a roof over their heads and food in their stomachs and love, lots of love. The smallest light of my life is my Chihuahua, Monroe. Seeing her face peek out from under her dog bed blankets every morning makes my heart melt. She is pure love and happiness.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I studied Theatre at Columbia College in Chicago. At that time Sheldon Patinkin was running the theatre department. I had heard about The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in LA and wanted to go there. Sheldon wrote my recommendation letter. I had to audition to get in and they do not accept many students. It is a very small school. I got in and it changed my whole world. It helps me with my creativity when I am pitching a new idea to our company during our operations meetings. It gave me the ability to create on the spot (improvisation) and during an event fix problems that may occur and never let on to the client that anything was happening. It gave me the courage to go on camera and talk about what was going on in each of our restaurants in our Hospitality Group. I learned to be comfortable in my own skin. I wasn’t always comfortable. College taught me that when I show the world my personality and what I have to offer, it’s enough.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If someone were to visit me in Las Vegas…first stop Hussong’s Mexican Cantina (they invented the Margarita at their Ensenada location in 1941) Next stop, would be The Circa Hotel downtown Las Vegas. It’s the new shiny toy here. 21 and over only and they have a pool with huge giant screen TVs to watch sports! I am definitely a sports fan. Then we can go to a Vegas Golden Knights game. The most fun you can have in 3 hours without being in a club or at a Vegas pool party. The next day, let’s do brunch. One of my favorite local places to brunch is DW Bistro. They have a live DJ on the weekends and the vibe is very chill. Walk in there and you will know half the room. Dinner. Let’s go to The Golden Steer, one of the oldest steakhouses in town and by far the best in my opinion. Last time I was there I sat in Marylyn Monroe’s booth. After dinner cocktails, Lets go to Vanderpump Cocktail Garden at Caesars. They make you feel like you are a movie star in the latest film. The drinks are fascinating and you can’t beat the ambiance. The next evening we should hit the Neon Museum. Over 6 acres of old neon signs and Marquees from hotels and buildings from Las Vegas past! If you like dolphins, we should head out to the mirage and check out the dolphin exhibit. If it’s winter, then let’s go to Mt Charleston. We can ski and have spiked hot chocolates in the lodge to keep us warm.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am a Buddy in Best Buddies Nevada. Travis my Buddy keeps me grounded and real. His infectious spirit has a positive effect on me and lets me know even on a hard and trying day I can overcome it and come out shining. He sparkles with sunshine and is proud to be an ambassador for Best Buddies Nevada as well as my best friend.
