We had the good fortune of connecting with Helena Koroteeva and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Helena, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
The sure-thing boat never gets far from shore. Dale Carnegie

I’m a risky person
for me risk is a challenge – I set myself a very high bar and it is difficult for me to be content with an average result.
Every time I take a risk, I don’t know how much the case will work out, but I am firmly convinced that I can resolve the situation in the way I need.

A good friend of mine once said to me, “Imagine that you turned 80 and you missed out on a lot of opportunities just because you were afraid of something. How will you feel then? ” – for me there is no greater motivation in life.

I’ve done a lot of risky things in my life.
I traveled in India for 6 months on my own as a backpacker or have done some skydiving with a Round-type parachutes ( when you are jumping on your own) – some Russian fun =)

I’ve taken a lot of risks in my career too – one example is when I switched from a well-paid, stable corporate job to being an unpaid intern in a High end fashion magazine. The internship lasted 6 months 24/7, six months later I had no money even to pay for a subway ride. But I gained invaluable experience and connections – after which my career as a stylist began to gain momentum.
I started my career in America twice, once in New York City and the second when I moved to Los Angeles – neither there or here I had any acquaintances in my industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
i am a fashion stylist or ( wardrobe stylist). i’ve been in the industry for over a 10 years. started as an photo studio intern and became as a Fashion expert and TV presenter at the Main Federal TV Channel of Russia, in the morning prime time program with an audience of more than 140 million viewers. Was it easy? – not at all – does it worth it – absolutely yes.

Overcoming stories are enough for a whole book – the most important thing is to find the courage to go your own way. Difficulties – there were a lot of them, from lack of money and time even to sleep, to big betrayals and scams behind my back with the aim of setting me up, including for a lot of money.

I am absolutely proud that I overcame this whole path myself, and reached every step on my own, experiencing all the ups and downs.
I am proud that the risks I take are rewarded with luck, and the continuity of action leads to the achievement of my goals. I don’t believe in luck as an accident, luck is a reward for work and faith.
But still – “I was lucky to work with very talented and strong people who taught me a lot.”

I have worked on important fashion weeks as stylist like a Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Russia and New York Fashion Week. I became a co-disigner of a new fashion collection with the NY based fashion designer. I have stylized for many Russian and European music and film performers – whose work has gained millions of views. Magazines with my works are published all over the world.
In stylistics, I mix all the accumulated experience and observation – a little Russian, European, American and Oriental styles are constantly intertwined in my works.

The manifestation of beauty is very important for me, as well as for many, however.

But my goal is – to show that by means of clothing you can change your life – simply by feeling more confident. How to emphasize your dignity, dress for an interview, see yourself from a new side.

For me, there is nothing more important than the shining eyes and the smile of the people I work with.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
start the day at the La Brea Bakery with a nice breakfast – croissants are my best friends =) Get a little tan at the Point Dume beach in Malibu
Had lunch at the Golden Mongolian restaurant
check the Los Feliz neighborhood in the day time and Sherman oaks close to the night
Grab a glass of wine at the Wally’s and some whiskey at the Seven Grand
Visit a sunset silent party on Dockweiler beach
