Meet Hema Bose | Founder of Maison Bose

We had the good fortune of connecting with Hema Bose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Hema, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As a global communication consultancy, there’s many aspects of my job that require risk taking and honestly, the way we approach it as a team is straight on. We know that without risk taking, there’s simply no result. We plan, we strategise, we curate, we orchestrate opportunities, workout logistics, in the hopes for a successful result. Often when working on organic VIP placement for example, the result is not always guaranteed. I continuously walk in my faith in my personal life and also when I’m working – I truly trust my gut and experiences to lead me into decision making and risk taking moments. There’s only so much that you can control – sometimes it’s good to rely on the universe to work its magic.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Officially launched in 2020, Maison Bose is a luxury communications consultancy with a key focus on VIP placement, creative direction, brand elevation, strategy and development. In other words, Maison Bose is a house with multiple disciplinary rooms – always aiming to expand and connect communities, talents and curate. We rebel against the notions behind “PR” and instead, we approach our work with a more humane touch. We are often considered as the “middle person”, connecting talents to brands and vice versa. However, we pride ourselves in telling cultural stories within the entertainment industry that will hopefully become iconic historic references. We are fortunate enough to work with incredibly gifted fashion houses, talents and stylists that we’ve built relationships with over the years and we’ve garnered their trust for long lasting collaborations – resulting in impactful results. Our work can be seen inside top publication, including Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar, alongside at prestige film festival and awards ceremony, including Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, The Academy Award and The Grammy Award, to name a few. It goes without saying that this industry is not for the faint-hearted – we are constantly faced with daily challenges – for example, we are currently in the midst of an global film strike and although we stand behind SAG-AFTRA, we are having ways to find other source of placements for our clients. Throughout my years in the entertainment and fashion industry, I’ve learned to be patient, consistent, to have perseverance and determination.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Los Angeles scene is a burst of energy and a melting pot of culture. I see LA through the lenses of a fashion shopaholic – from Rodeo Drive where money can buy you nearly everything, to small independent and conceptual avant-garde boutiques, such as H.Lorenzo and Maxfield. You also have the niche vintage stores on Melrose Avenue for unique pieces. And of course, the LA trip wouldn’t be complete without a trip to some of the most remarkable art spaces like LACMA. A perfect day is ended by the view of the ocean at Soho House in Malibu.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I owe it all to my parents – my father who has taught me all about entrepreneurship and my mother for her strength and determination. I’ve had the great fortune to work with incredible designers that I consider as visionaries and I have a tribe of friends, my incredible team and supporting stylists and talent managers that have contributed to the success of Maison Bose and for that, I’m forever grateful.
