We had the good fortune of connecting with Highland Crittendon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Highland, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I was just incarcerated for sales and while there I decided to change my life. If I could be successful in sales of marijuana and make a decent living. Then I could sale myself and offer a service I already understand {Detailing}. I had been doing it since early high school working for best friend father.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
First it’s the first interaction from the phone call to the first meet greeting! I’ve learned to keep the energy high and stay positive and focused on what the customer wants. What I do is give you a V.I.P experience even if you have a bucket you get that same respect and quality period. I pride my company on No Shortcuts in detailing it all a process that you have to follow in order to get the best results possible. No car will ever be perfect but we can get close. I have been in business for over 2 decades plus and it’s been more downs than up! But I still have to work and I really Love what I do. It’s a place that I can go and lose myself into my work. And the reaction of my customers face when they see the after of me detailing their vehicle. Is priceless and makes me feel my worth. The challenges I just had to stay focused like a race horse, keep my eye on other detailer doing it right and do me! I eat sleep shi! Detailing and my brand. I stay humble move accordingly to the situation at hand. Flow like water! Bruce Lee would say. And that’s what I do. Working on the streets of Los Angeles can be challenging. If you want something in life you have to work for it, if you want to earn something you have to dedicate yourself to the craft and sacrifice yourself sometimes in order to succeed. I love being able to control my work flow and schedule. That’s what a Boss is all about.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Ok let’s take him to the District a hangout for locals and middle aged good vibes and food drinks and fire too. The next day we hit Leimert park check out some shops taste some of the food vendors down there. Soul folks for unique clothes cultural intentions for African art and clothing and other cultural items. PCH take a ride up the coast before the sunsets. Dinner at Meat on the ocean over looking Santa Monica beach. The next day C&O ‘s in the Marina. Is that enough. If not IPIC Westwood to have drinks and watch a movie.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Well I can my grandfather credit for giving me work ethic. Another person would be my mother for her hustle and determination not being able to read and steel made a way to take care of her family. You would’ve never known unless she had to read something. And my father for always learning something new! And my friends from IG and detailing that I’ve met through the years. They had my back when I was homeless and trying to figure it out. They kept me grounded and showed me Love unconditionally. Whatever they could do ,to help they did. And I’m Grateful
