We had the good fortune of connecting with Hiten Bachani and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hiten, how has your background shaped the person you are today?

I was born and raised in Dubai.

Dubai is one of the most culturally rich cities in the world. More specifically, only 13% of Dubai’s population are citizens of the country, the rest are expats.

This allows us to unite in a special way, Dubai has etched into my heart that what unites us all is much deeper than what divides us.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.

My name is Hiten Bachani, and I am a rapper, singer, and record producer. I am so excited to talk about my new music video ‘Turn This Around (Mumbai To LA)’ This song is shot in Mumbai and Los Angeles, and it’s about a journey from west coast – to the west coast of the world. The record is in Hindi and English, and the goal of this song is to bring Bharat (India) to the world! “Hiten Bachani in the lead, Lakers paving the way; this is Mumbai’s Dhol from Bharat to LA” #nbaindia #losangelestalent

My journey along the way has had many ups and downs, and I have overcome them by staying positive and focused. I’ve learned along the way that it is so important to hold onto your network, because people are important. People drive growth, and growth drives people.

What sets me apart is that I participate in my music fully, during all stages of production, from writing, to recording, to engineering. I want to tell the world that we are going through a major rise in consciousness right now, and that what is most important is that we all stay united.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

Day 1 – Breakfast at Urth caffe

Go hiking along the Ferndell trail.

Lunch at Sage – Their Barbeque pizza is out of this world!

Boating with drinks and nachos in Echo Park lake.

Stories cafe

Dinner and drinks at EP & LP.

Some of my favorite spots in town:
Trejo’s Cantina, Rosaline, India’s Tandoori, Veggie Grill
No Vacancy, Skybar, Poppy

And of course, any trip to Los Angeles would be incomplete without a trip to Griffith Observatory!

LA is the entertainment capital of the world. I get to work with so many talented people in entertainment; that I wouldn’t be able to do it anywhere else in the world. I love the diversity – every neighborhood being different from the next. I enjoy playing beach volleyball, and coming from Dubai, seeing and experiencing the street art culture is heartwarming.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have so many inspirations. Someone who had a big impact on my life was Mr. Adil – he was one of my university professors. He taught a Philosophy class named ‘Self and identity in a postmodern world’ which was truly life changing.
