Meet Honor Frisco | High school student, violinist, pianist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Honor Frisco and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Honor, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Even though I don’t formally have an artistic career, seeing that I am still in high school, the arts is a large part of my day-to-day life. I was initially thrust into my musical journey by my parents begrudgingly. Over the years, however, music has shaped who I am today. Time and time again, music has allowed me to express myself through the medium of art. I love that I am able to translate my feelings through the sound of an instrument. Once I pick up my instrument, it’s like winding up in an entirely different world. It’s a world of freedom in the sense that it’s just me and the music enjoying each other’s company. In addition to the happiness and liberty that the arts brings to me, I enjoy the audience aspect of it all. Reactions and support from an audience can bring about a newfound sense of confidence. I used to be rather shy and introverted but performing for others has made me love interacting with others and bringing joy to them. Music has been extremely rewarding throughout my life, and I feel that it is only natural to continue on as an ambassador of the arts in order to spread the gift of music.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Even though music may not seem as demanding as other activities, I have had my fair share of struggles on my musical journey. There have been times where I lost motivation to practice, but the encouragement from the people around me rekindled my passion. I would have probably given up a while ago if it weren’t for those people. No one is truly self-made, and I am no exception. I have also learned plenty of lessons from the people around me. They taught me to be comfortable with being myself and that if I believe strongly in something, then I should not give up on it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely bring them to downtown Manhattan Beach. I love visiting that area with my family because there are so many opportunities for entertainment and good food. It is a bustling area that is coupled with the relaxing setting of the beach next to it. Relaxation and excitement are both possible in downtown Manhattan Beach. My personal favorite restaurant there is a place called Fusion Sushi because it has a wide array of Japanese cuisine that I enjoy. I would also take them to Del Amo Fashion Center because it is a mall full of things to do and try. Overall, it’s just a nice place to hang out with friends, and it features both outdoor and indoor shopping areas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my parents, my sister, and all of the mentors that have helped me on my musical journey. Every single one of them has encouraged me to chase after my dreams and aspirations. They have pushed me to become the best version of myself that I can possibly be, even outside of music. My mentors have taught me about discipline and the payoffs of having a strong work ethic. My parents constantly demonstrate a sense of selflessness that I try to learn from. My sister always supports me, regardless of the circumstances, and I consider her to be one of my best friends. My strength comes from the people around me and I would not be nearly as successful as I am without them.
