We had the good fortune of connecting with Stamaur Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Stamaur, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
I feel like the most important factor was for sure consistency. No matter what the circumstances were, I always and still to this day, stay consistent. Yes it’s cool to take breaks every now and then, especially for mental health. But you gotta keep the consistency flowing.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a comedian isn’t easy. Especially having to separate content creating from actual standup comedy. I didn’t always have the talent that I had today. I knew I was always funny, but I jumped into comedy with no gameplan. But I studied my craft. I took is serious. I hit open mics. I studied the greats that came before me. Samething with acting. I had no clue what a headshot or acting reel was some years ago. I had to really lock in and learn some things. I used to be naive and think because I had a big social media following that I could just genuinely make it off that, but that was not the case. I really had to put in the work and I’m STILL putting in the work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Seeing as though me and my best friends are social drinkers, I’d definitely take them to this spot called Tekil’a. It’s like the one place you take all your friends that come out here that have never been. The food and the drinks are bomb lol.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to dedicate a shout to every one from the DMV area that has supported me over the years and that is still supporting me. And big shoutout to my bro Mckenton. Without bro, I probably would not have been able to move to LA where I’ve been able to learn and grow more, and get a lot of opportunities.
