We had the good fortune of connecting with Iara Almeida and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Iara, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
Hello, my name is Iara. I’m Brazilian and part of the new division at ROOF LA.

At Roof Design + Build, I see my background as an immigrant as a source of resilience, allowing me to deeply understand people’s stories and create highly personalized designs.

Throughout my journey, I’ve been shaped by diverse cultural influences. I completed part of my degree in Australia and had the opportunity to explore many Southeast Asian countries—experiences that have undoubtedly made me a better professional and a better person.

Now, at ROOF D+B, another culture has become part of my path. Every day, Denise shows me the importance of running a business with aloha—a philosophy that resonates deeply with me.

Just like in Brazil, where we embrace a rich blend of cultures, I feel surrounded by meaningful influences that shape my approach to work. At the heart of it all is a commitment to doing what you love, listening to the stories around you, and embracing patience and empathy for our differences.

What should our readers know about your business?
We are incredibly excited to launch a new service at ROOF D+B—something we haven’t seen being offered in the market. We’ve been dedicating a lot of time to research and refinement to ensure we create a cohesive service that truly meets the needs of our target audience.

The journey hasn’t been easy—it’s been a long process of learning, adapting, and perfecting—but we’re now close to bringing it to life. ROOF D+B has been built with passion and a deep belief in what we do. Our goal is to provide a highly personalized, stress-free experience for our clients.

We understand that renovations can often be a major source of headaches, and our mission is to eliminate that stress by delivering a seamless, high-quality service.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I loved this!
I think I could make a list of places I’ve loved visiting in Los Angeles.
Farmers Market and The Grove – one of my favorite places to spend time…
Hollyridge Trail, which leads behind the Hollywood sign – I thought it was amazing to get there.
Having lunch at Maccheroni Republic.
Spending an afternoon at Laguna Beach.
But the list goes on… there are so many incredible places here.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could mention countless experiences that have shaped my journey and brought me to where I am today.

Without a doubt, my university years were an almost cathartic experience— a time of discovery, growth, and learning how to be better. Every bit of dedication felt like it had a purpose, even if it wasn’t always clear at the time.

But today, my shoutout goes to Denise, the incredible leader behind ROOF LA. Not only did she recognize my potential to launch this new division within the company, but she is also a true visionary. Her confidence in the future of ROOF D+B fuels our belief in how much we can grow and how far we can go.
