Meet Mr. Mo | Story Artist & IP Creator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Mr. Mo and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Mr. Mo, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
There is NO balance. When you love what you do, Life becomes Work, and Work becomes Life. This doesn’t mean that you destroy your health, relationships, or spirituality. On the contrary, you begin to take better care of your health because you understand a strong physique leads to better performance. You foster meaningful relationships and prune the energy-sucking ones, which leads to a stronger network. Lastly, you get close to God, because you realize your human limitations and acknowledge everything you have and enjoy is through His Grace.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Art speaks the language of the heart, crossing all borders and barriers. That’s why I love what I do. My art career started at Tokyopop, by winning the Rising Stars of Manga contest. Then I pivoted into Storyboarding, working on major commercials, video games, and live-action.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Golden State has much to offer. Your one week trip will consist of:
1. Walking on the Beaches.
2. Eating local and multicultural foods (From Mexican burritos to Indian curries, to Korean BBQ, we have it all!)
3. Museums, Museums, and more Museums!
4. Hiking up the mountains during Sunrise / Sunset.
5. Road Trip from San Diego to San Francisco.
Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?
Success is a Team Sport. I could not have been where I am without the Love and Support of the following people/books:
People:
My lovely and merry wife, Jenny, for believing and supporting me at all times.
Father Yang Seung Joon, and Mother Lee Yang Soon, for your unending prayers.
Brother Shin Yang, for introducing me to the world of manga.
Brother Won Yang, for your continuous support.
Friends (too many to name), for being my biggest fans.
Haters (way too many to name), for throwing oil to the fire.
My son Heerahm, for buying I’m the coolest father.
My daughter Riah, for believing I’m the best artist in the world.
God, for without your grace, none of this will be possible.
