We had the good fortune of connecting with Captain Daniel Kim and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Captain Daniel, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I was an Air Force Captain, I was in a big meeting with Air Force Generals and executives from Space X. It was a meeting where most people would be so honored to be in and be fulfilled with. However, for me, I couldn’t focus on anything that was happening in the meeting because I knew I was not suppose to be there.

For me, I knew that I wanted to have the full freedom to do what I want to do which is to help other people, especially Asian men become the best version of themselves.

When I realized my joy comes from having full control of my life and control of what service I bring to the world, it was time to start my own business called Life.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I was honorably discharged from the Air Force Captain, I had only one goal in mind. To give back to my fellow Asian Brothers and teach them everything I learned in 8 years to become the man I became today.

My whole life I was emasculated as an Asian male and faced countless attacks of racism. I actually believe I was less than any other races when it came to attractiveness and confidence as a man. However, after 8 years of countless confidence, dating, emotional intelligence, self-help, and even sex seminars, I finally realized how to become the best version of myself.

It was not easy because I invested over 5,000 hours and over $50,000 in myself to become who I am as a man today. I am different from others because I used to be a student and in my clients positions just like them. I never ask my clients do anything I haven’t done because I did it myself. Most of all, I genuinely care because if I can help each Asian brother become the best version of themselves, we can change the narrative that Asian men aren’t sexy or confident.

The most important lesson I learned is that ” There is always hope for you to become better than yesterday.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It will definitely be Koreatown. Koreatown is visiting Seoul, Korea in the USA. A must stop is Korean BBQ because its such a communal eating style. A great way to talk and enjoy amazing food.

For activities, I would take them to Santa Monica beach and go for a run right before sunset. A bike ride works too but Santa Monica is a must to see how beautiful LA is during sunset.

Lastly, this is SO cliche, but a drive down PCH on a convertible is still a must do. However, there has to be no traffic because you have to feel the breeze of the beach while driving.

Those would be my top 3 for my best friend visiting Los Angeles.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
JT Tran, CEO of ABCs of Attraction, started my coaching career by believing in me. He let me intern for him even though I had zero coaching experience. I actually took a program with him and I remember telling him that my main goal for taking his program was to be a Coach who works with him.
