We had the good fortune of connecting with Indeya Dynice and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Indeya, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Being a creative feeds my soul, it makes me feel whole and truly makes me happy. When I design and create it allows me to express freely and be my authentic self with no judgement. With everything going on in the world today things tend to feel like it’s out of my control, but being a creative allows me to have a form of control in an exciting way. At the age of 9, I knew that I wanted to have a career as a designer and creator designing clothes, acting, and being an entrepreneur. However I didn’t have the courage and confidence I needed to be successful chasing my passion at the time, so I created a safe back-up plan and pursued Nursing. I went to Rutgers University and graduated with my BSN in nursing. While working as a nurse I always felt like there was something missing in my career, a lack of fulfillment. Now don’t get me wrong, I enjoy helping and caring for people and I’ve appreciated every bond I’ve made with my patient’s and their families because I am great at what I do. I’ve just always felt like I needed to strive for more to be happy and successful within my career. I went back to school and obtained my Doctorate in nursing and I thought that would help me feel complete and I could begin to grow within my career from that point. It is the biggest accomplishment I’ve made in my life so far, but it still doesn’t give me the joy and peace I get when I am being creative. People say all the time that “work should never feel like a job if you’re doing what you love.” I can design new concepts for clothes, events, and spaces for hours without feeling like I am actually working, and the end results are always amazing and so satisfying. Last year, when COVID-19 hit and started affecting everyone’s lives, it really gave me time to sit and evaluate what I want to do with my life and what makes me happy because as we all know, life is too short to not do what we love. I then decided I would pursue all the things that I know make me happy, so I started taking acting classes and submitting self-tapes, I created my own inspirational/empowerment clothing line called Indeya Dynice (ID), and started a business selling a lighting accessory product that helps block the wind when trying to light something outdoors. The process of being your own boss and having complete creative control on how things get presented to the world is exhilarating and I love every second of it! I knew that this was my passion and where I was meant to be because I feel fulfilled when I create and I will forever pursue that.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
During the day I work a full time job as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner where I provide care for my patients and their family. I always knew I wanted to work with kids because of my fun outgoing personality and I would rather treat and deal with actual children versus adults who act like children lol. The path to becoming a nurse was a struggle for me, I didn’t always understand every concept or part of a system or disease and I failed a few times before succeeding. But I am resilient and when ever I am faced with a challenge, I work hard to complete it. I’ve learned that nothing comes easy and you can’t quit just because things get hard because the feeling of succeeding is worth so much more. I also create content and creative concepts to promote my brand and that is where I find the most enjoyment. Being able to creatively direct  and achieve a vision I had, that turns out better than I imagined brings me so much happiness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I am actually new to the LA area, less then a year (yes I moved in the middle of a pandemic lol), so I don’t know many places and I am still exploring myself. However I’m really good at putting together itineraries and plans lol so I would definitely go on a hike at Runyon canyon, go to Venice Beach, Santa Monica, or Malibu (the only 3 I’ve been to so far). Definitely make plans for brunch (my favorite thing to do, but make it vegan for me!). Some of my favorite vegan spots so far are: Crossroads Kitchen, The goodgood vegan, Locali Conscious, and Lucky You pizza. I would also drive a little ways up, park, and then hike to the Hollywood sign (because everyone has to see it, lol) take a few pictures and hang out at the park. Basically we would be doing all the touristy things because I’m still learning lol.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shoutout my friends and family! They are my ultimate supporters, my rocks, my comfort, and my truth. Me and my sister Ryan run one of my companies, The Lit Dome™, together and she is the ultimate anchor with all the hard work she puts in daily to the company. Our team, which is compiled of friends and family, is amazing for dedicating some of their time to helping us with research and getting the things done that we need to get done so that me and Ryan can focus on other tasks. My mom has always been in my corner rooting me on, showing love, and giving encouraging words to push through any venture. My dad is always giving the honest truth and helping me be realistic about things while still showing his love and support. I have such an amazing support system behind me that it pushes and drives me to keep going so that we all can enjoy and benefit!
