We had the good fortune of connecting with India Donaldson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi chef Indo, what are you inspired by?
I’m inspired by people out there taking what’s there’s. I believe if you can think it you can have it so if you think you want to do something do it, go for it reach for the stars and never give up. I have so many friends that have businesses they all inspire me. I’m inspired by my peers. I’m inspired when someone tells me they are proud of me or they see my vision or that they they believe in the things that I am doing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started my cooking business in 2013 I started selling plates from my house, in 2014 my business was at a stand still my father passed and I moved away. I gave up a little bit started some other businesses (network n chill & the juicy froot), but I’m back better than ever. I wish I would have used my fathers death was motivation to keep going. I think that if I would have kept going I wouldn’t have had to start all over and work my way back up (no complaints). I came back better my flavors are better and I’m still mastering my craft. I working on a few cookbooks and launching my seasoning line. I want the world to know that THE FLAVOR IS HERE!! Lol

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First I’d take them to get some tacos from Mo Better Burgers in Hawthorne, then take a drive to Malibu to get food from Netpunes Nest, we’d spend the day at the beach. I really like the beach plan a picnic at the beach, watch the sun set, head to Esperanza’s in Manhattan beach for drinks. Or we could just go to Catalina island drink oyster shots and eat lobster rolls explore the city in golf carts. I’ll take them to the beach though I take anyone who visits to the beach it’s something about.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to my mom, she helps me out a lot. She’s always at an event to help me. She helps me prep for my catering jobs etc. I also want to shoutout my dad who passed away I learned to perfect my craft cooking for him he was sick and needed a no salt diet that’s when I started making my own seasonings. Shout out to everyone who has been with me on this journey and who continue to ride on this boat with me you are gratefully appreciated.
