Meet Inez Singletary | Astrologer and Tarot/Qabalah Educator. Counselor. Coach. Sounding board. Breakthrough facilitation.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Inez Singletary and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inez, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I am now well into retirement age, and though many people in their 70’s work full time as an apparent necessity, I would not want to work full time with a commute. I feel fortunate to be able to work at home, part time with designer hours that work on my whim.
My favorite time of day for productive work is the morning. I am in a 7:00 A.M. writing group from Monday to Friday. When the group ends at 8:00 A.M., I am ready to meditate, which consists of reviewing where the planets are and meditating in silence for 10 minutes, and looking at a select set of Tarot Keys for 5 minutes. Then I open my journal, pen in hand and write 3 pages of stream of consciousness words that are inspired by the planetary placements, the tarot keys and my life.
This process finishes about 11:00 or 12:00, at which time I have my first meal of the day.
I work with people individually for 60 – 90 minutes, between the hours of 1:00 and 5:00. 1 client per day, 3 – 4 clients a week. 1 – 2 hours of prep time precedes each reading. Prep consists of printing their charts, noting the planetary relationships and running through my mind the nature of their problems and the opportunities for creative living or problem solving.
These are my best hours and after I have seen clients, I write, relax, read via Audible, make something artistic, like jewelry or cards or watch tv on the Internet. Then I make my evening meal and engage in whatever activity suits me or calls me by necessity, like putting together a Power Point slide presentation for a class that I will present.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am the only one who can do my work the way I do. It is a singular work. I am shaped by being born in the projects, which is like saying born on the reservation. I am shaped by my mothers love of poetry and the arts, and my father’s love of poetry that I knew nothing about.
I am shaped by learning how to listen with the study of shorthand, and transferring that to meditation, which is listening for higher guidance and listening to my clients so that I can plot their thoughts on their astrological map.
As a child I once said that I wanted to be a nurse so that I can help people and astrology helps me help people by aiding them to see their life and their path more clearly.
My work is shaped by a love of writing that I use to offer inspiration each new and full moon.
I interpret or mediate the messages of the stars. I try to bring the message into our life on this earth so that we might ease our journey, navigating by the stars as did some of our ancestors, but on different conveyance. For example, the message of the Full Moon in Sagittarius conjunct the South Node, is that we must tone down the preachiness and the judgement and the ardor that requires others to conform to our vision or suffer banishment.
Instead of planning what others must do, do what you must do. Write your own story. Take hold of the pen as your sword and frame the makeup of your story. “Don’t say people don’t understand me,” say, “I am an enigma.” Don’t say, I am sick, say, “I am healing.”
I am keen on my clients empowering themselves and not depending on me. I like to help clients attune to their own inner guidance.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When we are sufficiently past the pandemic, the Museum of Contemporary Art is a go to, as well as concerts or plays at Disney Hall and the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion.
My Southern California hot spot is The Huntington Gardens in San Marino, California, just a little North of Highland Park. The various gardens have their own inviting beauty. The grounds are well tended, the staff is courteous and helpful, and they have a few good eateries within. The Tea Room in the Rose Garden is a must.
I love eating at the Eleven City Deli on Wilshire Blvd. They make thick stacks of pastrami and brisket, juicy fat burgers, and also great healthy fare. I love their Chinese Chicken salad. I also like the Lemonade Restaurant on Flower St. Downtown. Healthy. tasty and, unusual.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to thank my sister, Deborah for the invaluable aid she gives me. I write a bi-monthly blog for the new and full moons which she edits and curates the art for. Most of the time I am blessed by her own artistic creations to illustrate my offerings. She paints and crafts beautifully. A friend called her work, multi-layered dream sequence. Her art has appeared in The New Yorker magazine and her art is popular with readers of the blog. She also spearheaded the publishing of my book, Making What Your Means Can’t Buy: Don’t let money keep you from doing what you love.
Builders of the Adytum nurtured my love of Tarot and Qabalah. Various authors have been responsible for illumination and inspiration, like Florence Scovel-Shinn, Wallace Wattles, Neville Goddard. Eckhart Tolle with his book Power of Now, helped me make some important breakthroughs. I have to extend a huge thank you to Abraham-Hicks for their many videos and writings on The Law of Attraction for teaching me things no one else seemed to teach, like the necessity to feel good and enjoy life and to not need others to change so that my life would be better.
