Meet Inka Nevala | Creative Director, SNCTM

We had the good fortune of connecting with Inka Nevala and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Inka, why did you pursue a creative career?
I’ve always been interested in arts. When I was young, I was terribly shy but enjoyed drawing, painting and playing piano. We were always building our own toys and gadgets with my younger sister so creativity was always part of everyday life. I found dancing as a teenager after overcoming my shyness and I mostly enjoyed show jazz and hip hop dancing. I never thought that this type of creativity could turn into a career so I went to a business school and begun to work as a part time employee at a model agency where I taught runway models. After graduating I studied to become a Graphic Designer but after few years in profession I realized this type of work was too restrictive for me. I wasn’t passionate about it.
It wasn’t until 2008 when I found burlesque that I begun to pursue creative career full time. My career took off very quickly taking me around the world and only after 5 years I became a World champion which also made me move from Europe to United States.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve headlined some of the world’s best fetish and performance arts events, toured, instructed and competed on a professional level. All this experience, connections, my hard work and determination has established the credibility, and reputation I have now, thus instilling trust when recruiting new talent. I’m grateful I get to share my knowledge and guide other performers to reach their dreams and fuller potential.
What were some challenges you faced, and how did you overcome them?
Artist as a career choice isn’t easy by any means. It means relentless work, facing rejections and overcoming them, countless hours of practice, travel miles meaning you are living from your suitcase and can’t really have a normal life. It’s hard to have a relationship when you are constantly on the road and your focus is in your artistry. But when you are passionate about something it’s almost like you have no other choice.
Now looking back I’m not quite sure how I did it all! It was exciting to start explore the world from a small country like Finland and become a known artist. That hunger, passion and even stubbornness eventually overcame all the challenges!
What sets your work with SNCTM apart from other creatives in the industry?
To be honest I don’t really compare myself against others. There’s place and audience for all different type of creativity in the industry. I’m my own critic and expect excellence from myself and others.
For me it’s highly important that I don’t rely on merely on sex or shock value. I take lot of pride in making guests feel safe, comfortable and most of all adventurous. I’m a storyteller and for me aesthetically pleasing environment, theatrical sound and lighting create an inspiring cocoon where I can create erotic art at its best. No detail is too small to be ignored. My strength is to come up with beautiful, unique and surprising show ideas monthly which is not a small task.
What you are most proud of in your work with SNCTM?
I’m not only a Creative force at SNCTM but I also contribute to the business development and serving the community. I’m extremely proud of the team and positive work ethic we have built together over the couple years. I’m proud to be part of a company that is sex positive, truly values the arts, culture of eroticism and wellbeing of the community. We exist to serve the needs of our exclusive members and guests and guide them on their own personal journeys. That brings lot of joy to me.
What are you most excited about next?
I’m extremely excited about next year’s plans but I can’t reveal quite yet what is about to come. SNCTM is growing.
Of course I’m also excited to go back to the sunshine of LA where we have our last event of 2023 on December 16th.
What do you want the world to know about you and your work with SNCTM?
I love the moments when performers shine on stage and our collaborative vision comes alive. Guests experience the artistry first hand and become inspired. There’s no bigger gift than seeing people free, enjoying a moment, being vulnerable while connecting with others on a deeper level. I can say as a fact that we can change lives for better because we truly care about our members personal journeys.
We know you curate events in LA frequently. Where are your favorite spots to eat, drink stay or relax while you’re in town? What are your must sees?
I’ll go anywhere nice where I’m taken to! I’m terrible making decisions on restaurants so I gladly leave the rains to my husband or friends. They know I love French food and as foodies themselves make always great choices. One of the great spots to hangout is Petit Ermitage Hotel where some of my artist friends do appearances. Last time I was part of a nude live sculpting.
While in LA I love to relax by the rooftop pool we have or enjoy going to a steam room or sauna. As a Finnish person there’s nothing I love more than a good sauna!
I zone in to the events by going to a flower market early in the Friday morning. It brings me lot of joy to create multiple beautiful flower arrangements for the luxurious penthouse.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Firstly I need to mention my husband Daniel who is my biggest supporter and creative partner. Together we are able to come up with the most opulent ideas and create unique erotic artwork. Without his handyman skills many of the ideas would stay as mere sketches. Our home is an homage to erotic arts and our combined skills. Truly labor of love.
I would also like to give credit for all the artists, performers who are so passionate to create lifelong memories, the SNCTM team for giving their trust, support and professionalism. It takes a little village to run high end events with precision! And last but not least, I would like to acknowledge the owner of SNCTM who gives me the creative freedom to take chances and push boundaries in erotic storytelling.
