We had the good fortune of connecting with Isabella Blake Thomas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isabella, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand, Mother Daughter Entertainment, lies in our commitment to creating content that matters. This principle guides every project we undertake, ensuring that our work resonates with audiences on a deeper level. My mum and I have an incredible relationship that has fostered a collaborative and creative environment. Starting a production company felt natural because we’ve always made films together, and now we can put a name to our shared vision.

I believe in the power of storytelling, particularly in addressing significant issues that impact society, such as mental health and human trafficking. Through projects like “Unseen”, we strive to spark conversations and bring awareness to critical topics. Additionally, being part of a female-led company that values diverse voices empowers me to contribute meaningfully to every project, overseeing them “from script to screen”.

Ultimately, our success is a reflection of our dedication to authenticity, collaboration, and a genuine desire to make a difference in the world.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a reflection of my values and the world I want to see—a world where stories have the power to inspire change. What distinguishes me in this space is my commitment to tackling pressing social issues through film and television. I focus on narratives that address mental health and other human struggles, and I strive to present these topics with sensitivity and authenticity. I want to create a space for discussions that many might shy away from, and my projects aim to do just that.

Reaching this point in my career has been a journey filled with both challenges and triumphs. It hasn’t always been easy; I’ve faced skepticism and obstacles, especially being a young woman in a male-dominated industry. However, my tenacity and the invaluable support from my family—particularly my mum, who is also my business partner—have been crucial. We share a vision of creating impactful content, and our collaborative spirit has allowed us to push through tough times.

Through this experience, I’ve learned that resilience is vital. Each challenge has taught me to stay true to my mission and to value the voices around me. I want the world to know that my brand stands for more than just entertainment; it’s about fostering understanding, compassion, and dialogue. I hope that through our stories, we can inspire others to join us in creating a more empathetic world.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting Los Angeles for a week, I’d plan an amazing itinerary filled with delicious vegan spots and exciting activities. We’d start our adventure with breakfast at “Cafe Gratitude” in Larchmont Village, followed by a leisurely stroll through the charming local shops. For lunch, we’d head to “Plant Food + Wine” in Venice, where we can savor gourmet plant-based dishes, and later enjoy an elegant dinner at “Crossroads Kitchen”. Day two would be a beach day, beginning with breakfast at “The Butcher’s Daughter” and then soaking up the sun at Venice Beach. Lunch would be vegan sushi from “Sunny Blue”, followed by dinner at “Gracias Madre” for fantastic vegan Mexican cuisine. On day three, we’d enjoy breakfast at “Dune”, then visit the “Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)” for some cultural enrichment. Lunch at “Little Pine” would be followed by vegan pizza at “Pizzanista!” for dinner. On our fourth day, we’d savor a breakfast at “Lemonade” before hiking in “Griffith Park”, taking in the views of the Hollywood sign. After lunch at “Nature’s Grill”, we’d cap off the day with a hearty meal at “The Veggie Grill”. This itinerary would perfectly blend great food, culture, and the beautiful nature LA has to offer, making for a memorable week together!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to the incredible team at AwareNow and everyone involved with them. Their unwavering commitment to storytelling and raising awareness for vital social issues has been instrumental in shaping my journey. AwareNow serves as a platform that empowers voices from all walks of life, creating a tapestry of narratives that connect us all.

I’m especially grateful for the mentorship and collaboration we experience as part of this community. Every story we share not only uplifts individual causes but also contributes to a broader understanding of the human experience. This collective effort inspires me to keep pushing boundaries and striving for positive change in the world.

It’s the support, love, and encouragement from this network that fuels our mission to transform society through the power of storytelling. So, a huge thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey—we are truly tied together by our shared humanity!
