We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Bradshaw and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Isaiah, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
I often find myself having to recalibrate each week or even sometimes each day. My friends and I frequently have conversations about how what might’ve worked one day, will not work the next and you’re left to adjust. I’m currently working full-time while also pursuing music and every day looks different. I may have a plan or checklist of things I need to do each day but you never know what might come up. Over time, balance changes and looks different based on what you have going on in your life, and as I’ve taken on more responsibilities, finding balance has become much more prevalent in my daily routine.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I think how and why I do art has changed and evolved as I have grown as an artist. What may have started as something I just did for fun with friends has now grown to be a means of expression and even a form of therapy for me. It is no longer something I like to do, but something I can’t live without. I think one of the qualities that helps to set me apart from other artists is my versatility. When making music, I pride myself in being able to see the record through from start to finish, assisting with the production, songwriting, engineering and even sometimes creating the cover art. To add to that point, I love to create many different genres and often blend them together. I never want to be put in a box. I often like to sit down and create with a blank canvas.

Creating and sharing my art hasn’t always been easy and it still isn’t till this day. There are always going to be days where the music isn’t sounding how I want it to or I am unsure if I should post a song or a beat because of how it may be perceived. When things like this happen, I have to remind myself that a. days and thoughts like that are something that practically every human and artist deals with and b. while I do hope that people can relate to and enjoy my music, at the end of the day, I create because I love it and I have to let go of what others might think.

In regards to things I am excited about, I have a bunch of new music on the way and I’m also planning on releasing my first project this year. I am definitely looking forward to seeing it all come together and planning out things like music videos that can go along with the project. I’m hoping to display my varying music taste and incorporate a bit of all the genres of music that I create. I would consider Hip Hop to be my main genre, but I definitely want this project to be more than just a rap album.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I had a friend visiting from out of town, I feel like the first stop we have to make is In N Out. As a California native, I’ll ride for In N Out any day. I don’t want to hear no hate lol. Other food places we might have to hit while they’re out here are Korean BBQ and I also go to this little breakfast spot on Pico called The Rooster that has some fire breakfast burritos. If we’re popping out at night, Ace Hotel used to be one of the go-to’s but they unfortunately shut down recently, so depending on what’s going on that week, I’d probably take them to an event like Familiar Faces or Black Market Flea. Both of those events have great music and good vibes so I feel like they’d be great for taking a friend that’s visiting. One of my favorite things about L.A. is all of the different cultures that come together and all of the individual experiences that people have that help make L.A. what it is. L.A. has a lot of unique places and events thrown by many different types of people so depending on what my friend had in mind, I know we’d be able to find something for them to enjoy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are numerous people and groups that deserve recognition in my story and I’ll start with my family. Never once have they questioned or discouraged me from pursuing music and chasing my dreams. They’ve been nothing but supportive. From when I got my first pair of studio monitors and they had to listen to me make beats into the late night, up until now, there’s never been a question or a complaint from them. My brother actually once told me “Finally we can get some sleep” after I moved my very first studio set up from my room to my family’s garage. I never even knew it was a problem because they never mentioned it. Things like that I will forever be grateful for. I also want to shout out all of my friends who have been there for me along the way. Whether it was giving me an opinion on a new song I made or just being there to listen and/or give me advice after I may have had a long day, I couldn’t have made it this far without their support. I truly appreciate everyone who has taken the time to show love or prop me up. Things like that keep me going.
