We had the good fortune of connecting with Ishmael Mayhew and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ishmael, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I’d say the main contributing factor to my progress in business has been resilience. You really have to be willing to come back stronger and show up for yourself despite what’s going on in the world or your own life.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business journey is unique in that it’s all connected to my personal experiences. Every business I’ve launched has been my healthy response to painful experiences. I’m a creative entrepreneur so it’s even more therapeutic to launch a business in a creative way. My mantra is always, “Dream Big. Do bigger.” To add to that mantra, I’d say “Don’t get mad. Get money.”

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, LA is so vast and these so much to see! I’d probably say, we’d have to go to the Crabby Crab in Sherman Oaks on Van Nuys Blvd. Dukes in Malibu is one of my favorite restaurants by the beach. We’d check out Santa Monica Pier and Venice. The area of Santa Monica is a vibe in general. Of course, West Hollywood is all fun for nightlife and during the day! Next stop, the Griffith Observatory. It’s a hike but it’s fun as well! If not that, Runyon Canyon is always around. Catch LA is a great dinner spot in West Hollywood. Xen Lounge is grown and sexy and a great black-owned space as well in North Hollywood.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My success can absolutely be attributed to everyone close to me. My amazing friends, my family, a very loving partner, and my Higher Power.
