We had the good fortune of connecting with Iván Emilio Albino and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Iván Emilio, alright, let’s jump in with a deep one – what’s you’re definition for success?
Success to me is feeling at peace with the work you do everyday, regardless of money or fame. If you feel happy with your work and you are changing the life of at least one person from your work, then you are succeding at it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actor, host and producer with a huge passion for representing my Latino people. I never hide my Puerto Rican pride and whenever I can incorporate it into my projects, I do. I love when people write back commenting on how they finally feel seen and how they can relate with my videos so much.
I am currently a video producer/talent for BuzzFeed’s Pero Like. They have been my school on becoming the confident actor, host and producer that I am today. I’ve always felt supported in my goals and I’ve learned a lot from every single project.
It wasn’t easy at all to get to where I am today and have the position I currently have. But it was my hard work and determination that got me there. When a door closed, I didn’t leave. Instead, I found another way in.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend came to visit me in Los Angeles, I would take them hiking all the way up to the Hollywood sign. There’s nothing like getting to see those iconic letter up close and then seeing the view of Los Angeles from up there and taking it all in. After that, We would go to Porto’s bakery and go all out with their delicious food. Then at night we would find a cool restaurant/bar in Culver City and have a great time eating and drinking. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I gotta give a shoutout first of all to my parents. Without their support I wouldn’t be near where I am today. They have been super supportive of my creative endeavors since day one. They believed in me during times that I didn’t believe in myself.
I also need to give a shoutout to my team from Buzzfeed. They are always encouraging to think big and follow my dreams. Also, to feel confident in the work I put out daily.
