We had the good fortune of connecting with Ivan Vazquez and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ivan, what do you attribute your success to?
Consistency. People have a lot on their plate, juggling work, school, daycare perhaps. The less people have to think about a decision the easier it is for them to make it. We don’t do much if any advertising, so it’s important for us to treat every customer with respect and show them how we can provide value to them by providing great service, great products, at pricing they want to pay. By providing consistent (good!) service, customers share their experience with their family and friends. We’ve been around for nearly 40 years, and we’ve gotten this far by consistently providing our customers with experiences they go on to share with their love ones. It’s not uncommon for us to see 3rd sometimes even 4th generation customer come through our doors. We’re not always going to be the cheapest place in town, but when your business is able to provide reliable service at a fair price, customers more often than not are willing to pay for that consistency.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
What I can share that I hope helps others, is that, it is not easy! Running your own business takes a lot of sacrifice in front of what feels like an endless wall of challenges. Employees, customer experiences, inventory management, marketing, social marketing and on and on, the list of to do’s is never quite done. Surround yourself with people that share your vision of what you want your company to be/become to help you get to that vision. Our family has a lot of love for our business. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we hope that the love and commitment we have for our family business is demonstrated in the work we put out. We are grateful to everyone who has been a part of the success, from clients, employees, vendors, etc., we are grateful to them and god for blessing our business.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Given the Covid situation, I would probably tell my friends to come some other time! But when normalcy does return, the allure of Southern California is going to be popping! We are lucky to have exciting sports franchises in town like the newly minted Champions Lakers, catching some homeruns at Dodger stadium or a Sunday afternoon football game of the Rams or Chargers. The Hollywood bowl has amazing musical acts. You can grab a bite to eat at the hundreds of eateries around town from nearly any cultural cuisine. Summer months definitely call out for some beach time, so that can be hanging out at the Santa Monica Pier, or chilling down at Hermosa beach or even catching the waves down in Orange County. You can even go for some easy hikes like the Santa Anita Canyon Loop and dip into the waterfall if you can brave the cold water! So many people are attracted to live and play here in Southern California and I do pray we can quickly return to an environment that allows us to safely open up our beautiful state.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
A successful venture always starts with strong roots, so shoutout to my parents and founders of the company Jose & Leonor Vazquez. I talk about consistency in my story, and the epitome of that our my folks. They have both been working tirelessly since the mid 70’s to build the foundation our success can be attributed to. Neither made it to college, nor did they have much money in their pocket when they came over from Mexico, but grit, determination, and consistency were the tools they implemented to build the company up to what it is today.
