We had the good fortune of connecting with J. Morgan and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi J. Morgan, why did you pursue a creative career?
Creating art makes me feel alive! When I was a kid I remember feeling the overwhelming urge to express myself and all I wanted to do was write and make music but I didn’t have access to a studio or anything close. Once I got older and was able to gain access to the things I needed to create , it was like I was finally free to fulfill my purpose in life. That’s the best way to describe it: to create is why I’m here on earth at this time
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Smooth and down to earth. My style is reminiscent of classical hip hop but I rap over current sounding instrumentals. I have a lot of positive uplifting messages in my music which I feel is lacking in rap/hip hop music. I try to make songs that everyday people can relate to and take away something from the lyrics. I have been making music for 13 years and I have transformed many times with growth and maturity. I know that I have the music inside me and I don’t want to waste what I have. There is nothing I want more than to really reach the masses with my music. I know I have the ability to connect with millions of people and I wake up inspired to write and create every day. Maybe I can be some inspiration to someone else out there. Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Really I owe a lot to my fans. Over the years the only thing that motivates me to keep pushing is the fact that I know I have many people out there who connect with my music and my stories. Art needs to be seen and music needs to be heard and I am so thankful for the fans and listeners. Also, my family has been so supportive and enabling of my music career and without them my story would be way different.
