Meet Jack Conway: Songwriter | Artist | Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jack Conway and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jack, how do you think about risk?
As humans, we have a natural survival instinct – which places comfort over risk, because taking risks is venturing into the unknown.
Still, as the saying goes: “The greater the risk, the greater the reward” & I have seen that statement hold true in my life countless times.
For me, my fear of never fulfilling my true potential is greater than my fear of failing. Every time we take a risk, we grow and 100% you are going to fail. Yet, I remind myself of stories like Thomas Edison – he had thousands of failures, but he is only known for the one success he had.
The role risk has played in my life/career is best summed up by the 1% rule (anyone who’s read Atomic Habits will know this rule). Taking a risk demands consistent improvement, even if it’s at 1%.
Like an ice cube being heated up from 25 degrees to 32 degrees one degree at a time, you don’t see any change until it hits 32 degrees. So, even if you don’t see a large change in your life when you improve that 1%…keep going, it will pay off.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being from Indiana, you don’t really grow up thinking about the Entertainment Industry as a realistic route for your profession.
Moving out to LA has definitely been a learning curve, as I was never educated on the business side of the industry, yet it’s been super exciting to dive in head first and become a sponge to soak up as much data as possible.
My career has taken so many turns: from just playing piano, then teaching myself guitar and songwriting, to now where I write, produce, am a multi-instrumentalist and even handle the business side of things like booking my own shows, building my own website, running FB/IG ads, etc.
While challenging, I am a 100% from start to finish & it will allow my brand to continue and thrive long term, because I am building it authentically.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Malibu. Whether it is early morning hikes, mid-day lunch at Malibu Café or an evening dinner on the beach.
Coffee shops – Intelligentsia, Stumptown, Verve, Alfred
Can’t go wrong with the classics of hiking Runyon Canyon or eating Tacos (haha).

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to shoutout my siblings, because they have been with me through it all.
Everyone has a story and challenges in their life – mine in particular stem back to a rough childhood that offered heavy challenges ranging from poverty to depression.
My 6 siblings have stuck with me, encouraged me & continue to stand by me as life progresses. They helped me learn life long lessons at a young age such as responsibility, leadership & humility.
Without my siblings, I would not be the man I am today.
