We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackie Romero and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I feel what makes me different from others in my industry is that I truly care about creating a relationship with my clients. I find a way to relate to them on a personal level which makes the whole experience that much more meaningful and enjoyable. This has been very successful for me because I do a lot of weddings and I am able to give my brides a calm experience before all the excitement. This has also resulted in a lot of referrals for my business because If one client has a great experience, they are likely to tell their friends and family.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I offer Makeup, Hairstyling, and Tanning services for special events. I also do photoshoots, and pretty much any occasion where you need to get dolled up and feel special. What sets me apart is that I truly specialize in the “Glam” look, you won’t get an average experience when you book an appointment with me. I got where I am today in my business by trial and error. I never intended on growing as big as I have so as time went on and I kept booking bigger events and clients I realized I needed to have a website, then contracts, online booking, etc. Some of the main lessons I have learned are you can only do the best you can, and accept that you will never make everyone happy. Also if you stay focused and never give up it really will lead you to success, no matter how hard it may seem it really does Pay off to keep going to reach your goals. I really want the world to know that I have invested 100% of myself into my brand, and I want it to represent the amazing quality of my services, and the experience I give my clients.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love living in LA, and even though I grew up in the San Fernando Valley I still love it! If I had a friend visiting for a week, I would make sure I take them out to eat at some of my favorite places because I am such a huge foodie. One of my favorite restaurants is Sol Y Luna in Tarzana, which has the best Mexican food. I also would be sure to get them to dessert the Beignet Box food truck that hangs out in Sherman Oaks and Studio City. I am pretty much addicted to Beignets now and think everyone would enjoy them! For drinks I love going over the hill to the Dream Hotel, great vibes and atmosphere!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom who has always been such a huge help and support. Whether it was waiting in line to register for beauty school at 6am 10 years ago or helping me move into my first makeup studio, she was and is always there for me!
