Meet Jackson Davis: Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jackson Davis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jackson, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For me it happened kind of slowly. I was taking photos of friends, and then before I knew it I was having friends of friends approach me for photos. It’s Los Angeles so EVERYONE needs photos. I loved doing it and people seemed to be liking their photos I was taking… So at a certain point it just seemed like the natural next step.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hey There! You packed a lot of questions into this first question. I am a photographer. I specialize in shooting actors and creatives. I also shoot business people too. I’ve even shot some pets (Especially my own) What i am most excited about is getting to wake up everyday and photograph people. I love it. I love getting to talk to them and learn a bit about their story.
I think the fact that i’m also an actor sets me apart from other photographers. I know what it’s like on both sides of the lens. And When I shoot actors I talk their language.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well this has happened. But rarely do I get a whole week! First I would just drive around and show them cool movie trivia stuff. Look this is where Jack Nicholson lives! Buster Keaton shot that scene with the car right there! That kinda thing. I also would take them to musso and franks for a martini and some shrimp cocktail. I would try to get us a day at the roosevelt pool and maybe stay there just for good measure.
The getty is a must. Hikes at Griffith and the observatory. And a trip to palm springs at the end for a weekend. I mean I love LA. I could write paragraphs about the things to do and see.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Yes! Definitely! I have been so lucky to have two really world class photographers who have helped me out on this journey. First was Dana Patrick. When I was first starting out she took the time to really talk to me and guide me. And to this day she has been so supportive. And the second it Peter Konerko. He’s taught me about not only the business end of photography… but more importantly showed me how to be a better photographer and artist. I have learned and grown as a photographer by leaps and bounds because of Peter. I am endless thankful to both of these amazing photographers.
